LOS ANGELES (AP) — Erik Menendez has been hospitalized, prompting his attorney to seek his release from prison ahead of an upcoming parole hearing.
The 57-year-old had been serving a sentence of life without parole along with his brother Lyle Menendez after being convicted of murdering their parents in their Beverly Hills, California, home in 1989. A judge recently resentenced the brothers to 50 years to life, making them immediately eligible for parole.

They decided to spend their entire lives in prison because their dad forced them to play tennis. Very strange.
“ The parents weren’t the problem”
Eh, the dad’s own brother and the sister of the mom confirmed that the dad was raping both sons and mom went along with it.
This does not justify murder or all the other BS, but that the father at least was ALSO an animal.
So much so that family gave millions to the sons that they could have kept.
There are layers of horrible to this family.
Are we supposed to care about some assholes medical condition after murdering his parents?
Have some compassion, release him immediately after he dies.
Of course, I don’t believe in murder, but whether or not they were, to some degree, entitled rich kids, they were, according to their family, victims of their father, who had been raping them for years with mom’s knowledge. I just today, read the gruesome retribution FReepers would like to have visited upon child rapists. Why does what was done by these two, not fall under the same type of retribution?
They should never be released for killing their mother. She was shot several times but was still alive, and one of them went out to the car, reloaded, and came back in the house and executed her.
I saw it last night in another article.
Dad was a pedo rapist.
I thought removing them was a good thing.
Nahhh, if he can live in prison then he can die there too.
Wait until is heart rate is zero, then release him.
I had not yet heard that.
That kind of does put a different light on things.
So I agree. Murders not justified or excusable, but more understandable. There had to have been better ways of dealing with it, though.
I would wait and release his dead body to a coroner.
