MOSCOW, July 22. /TASS/. Residents of the city of Rivne have joined the protests against the scandalous law that effectively eliminates the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). This was reported by the publication "Obshchestvennoye".

Earlier, residents of Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk), Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Poltava and Ternopil took part in the rallies. In the capital, the protesters also demanded the resignation of the head of Volodymyr Zelensky's office, Andriy Yermak, and expressed dissatisfaction with the dominance of this body in the life of the country.

On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law by 263 votes that effectively eliminates the independence of NABU and SAP. The law has already been signed by the speaker of parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk. A number of Ukrainian deputies reported that the law has already been signed by Volodymyr Zelensky, but there is no confirming data on the Rada website.

According to the adopted law, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine becomes the head of SAP prosecutors, which practically transfers the anti-corruption prosecutor's office to his subordination and influences the cases conducted by NABU. In addition, the law lifts the ban on transferring cases from NABU to other agencies, and the Prosecutor General will now be able to take over NABU proceedings and transfer them to other prosecutors. As noted by Ukrainian media, the adopted law will have a key impact on NABU, as well as on the work of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, which deals with the issue of monitoring declarations.

Not sure I understand the significance of this. Is this an attempt by Z’s government to suppress corruption investigation?

Flashback:

Ukraine’s young corruption fighters struggle against elites — and Donald Trump

In public appearances, Giuliani painted the anti-corruption group as a dubious tool of George Soros, the Hungarian-born philanthropist who founded the Open Society Foundations. Like many pro-democracy groups across Europe, Kaleniuk’s organization receives funding from Open Society, last year to the tune of about $150,000, or about a quarter of the Ukrainian group’s budget.

The Russian side of the Ukraine War believes Zelensky is on his way to being deposed from power.

Time will tell...

If there really is true threat that Z will be deposed, it would mean NATO is throwing him under the bus. I believe intel agencies have supplied protection for him because NATO wanted their puppet in power. If NATO stops supporting him, then Z gets thrown out. Z has had this hanging over his head for some time now. He must at this point be beyond desperate.

Yes. Zelensky is corrupt and he just shut down two anti-corruption agencies.

False.

Z refused to investigate Hunter Biden/Burisma when Trump asked him, and Z's owned and operated by by NATO. NATO wanted Trump gone as he does not do as he's told. Z is working for the Deep State, that's why Biden gave Ukraine more money in 2 years than the US has ever given another country, even after all those years in Afghanistan.

Trump's response to the question about the Epstein files (e.g., still talking about that, nobody cares etc.) was actually him playing back Zelensky's response when Trump asked him to investigate Burisma/Hunter Biden. Trump was investigated and impeached for that phone call, and Zelensky stood back, satisfied.

So if it was fine in the eyes of the MSM to accept Zelensky's assertion that 'everybody's tired of Burisma', to not even seek the truth, and instead impeach Trump, then why should the MSM have any objection to Trump using Zelensky's words in the Epstein case? The MSM/talking heads were fine watching Trump be dragged through impeachment investigation rather than simply supporting an investigation into the truth.

https://thehill.com/policy/international/europe/471051-ukraine-president-zelensky-everybody-in-ukraine-is-so-tired-about/
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that Ukrainians are “tired” of the energy company Burisma Holdings in response to a question from a CNN reporter.
“You were ready to publicly announce an investigation into Burisma after your phone call with President Trump?” a CNN reporter asked Zelensky Tuesday morning, referring to the company that included Hunter Biden, former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, on its board
“I think everybody in Ukraine is so tired about Burisma,” Zelensky responded. “We have our country, we have our independence, we have our problems and questions.”

Here's what Wikipedia had to say about it.

The inquiry reported that Trump withheld military aid[a] and an invitation to the White House from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in order to influence Ukraine to announce an investigation into Trump's political opponent Joe Biden, and to promote a discredited conspiracy theory that Ukraine–not Russia–was behind interference in the 2016 presidential election.[4][5]

Biden flooded the Ukraine with US taxpayer money and weapons. Biden/NATO own and operate Zelensky.

Follow me to the next Ukrainian thread and sneer that I'm Vindman or Russian or whatever so I can post this again.

Stop pimping for Soros!

US Embassy pressed Ukraine to drop probe of George Soros group during 2016 election

While the 2016 presidential race was raging in America, Ukrainian prosecutors ran into some unexpectedly strong headwinds as they pursued an investigation into the activities of a nonprofit in their homeland known as the Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC).

The focus on AntAC — whose youthful street activists famously wore “Ukraine F*&k Corruption” T-shirts — was part of a larger probe by Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office into whether $4.4 million in U.S. funds to fight corruption inside the former Soviet republic had been improperly diverted.

The prosecutors soon would learn the resistance they faced was blowing directly from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev, where the Obama administration took the rare step of trying to press the Ukrainian government to back off its investigation of both the U.S. aid and the group.

This might be hard for you to understand, but American Conservatives do not share the same values as The Hill, and most consider The Hill leftist propaganda. Your quote proves my point.

I quoted The Hill in my post above despite the fact that the trash journal made it sound like Trump deserved impeachment. You quoted The Hill BECAUSE they push their leftist world view and distort the facts to fit their 'narrative'.

Let's simplify this quickly. The public is protesting Zelensky because he's running the country into the grave and shutting down fraud investigations is his latest bad decision.

Refusing to investigate Biden family crimes in the Ukraine is among the first and worst of Zelensky's crimes that we know of. Standing by refusing to investigate massive Biden crime while watching Trump be investigated and impeached for no reason is Zelensky's legacy.

Did you also support Soros’ AntAC back in 2016? Or is this something new?

The constitution of Ukraine is a bogus document with Zenlinski trashing the country.

Trump wants him out, but putting a other nationalist prick in the presidency by Trump is an even worst option, given Trump wants a real Nazi for president. Five percent of Ukraine was Nazis and we had to raise them to power....
