Funny, Europe didn’t think that the CYPRUS INVASION was enough to start World War 3 - but then back then men ran things on both sides of the ocean.

You think standing by while a nation is invaded by savages is "manly".

Well, to each their own.

This article is hopelessly biased toward the Greek point of view. The Turks didn't start this one, and the Greeks got what they deserved.

See Turkish invasion of Cyprus (wiki).

The military junta governing Greece (since a 1967 coup) was losing their grip on power, and delusionally believed a coup in Cyprus with the aim of annexing Cyprus to Greece, led by Greek Cypriot officers, would rally the Greek masses to support the junta by invoking patriotic feelings.

They failed miserably, as it not only precipitated the Turkish invasion, but soon led to the disintegration of the junta in Athens. The behavior of the Greek Cypriot coup plotters after their overthrow of Makarios didn't help their cause much either. From wiki article: "On 20 July, the 10,000 inhabitants of the Turkish Cypriot enclave of Limassol surrendered to the Cypriot National Guard. Following this, according to Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot eyewitness accounts, the Turkish Cypriot quarter was burned, women raped and children shot."

This highly partisan retelling of the 51 year old story has as much regard for truth as, say, anything The View says about DJT on an average day
