Pundit Tucker Carlson called Moscow “nicer” than any city in the United States and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin's governing of the massive world superpower.
The Moscow Auchan supermarket that Tucker Carlson eulogized is near my Moscow home, so I know this particular mall pretty well. (Last time I was there during the first days of the war, in March 2022.) In my experience, every Walmart in the US has more products and they are of better quality than this Auchan; and I am not talking about Trader Joe's or Whole Foods - in Moscow, such stores would be for very-very rich, top 1%.Feb 21, 2024.

Are we to fashion our policy by simply reacting Tucker Carlson? I think he drew the right conclusions about Iran and Afghanistan but that he has applied those lessons wrongly against Ukraine and Iran. If I am to base my understanding of the world by reacting for or against whatever Tucker Carlson says, I am a poor conservative indeed.
Consider the position of Donald Trump with respect to Ukraine. At the end of his first administration he sent javelins to Ukraine to deter Russian invasion. During the interim between his administration's he harshly criticized Biden's policy and as soon as the returned to office, Donald Trump sided with Putin against Ukraine in negotiations. That is until he moderated his stance somewhat when he cut a deal on mineral rights and later reversed to a great degree his oft stated opposition to the war after a disappointing telephone call with Putin. Now he has reverted to a policy resembling his original stance when he sent javelins to Ukraine.
What guiding principle about the war in Ukraine are we to draw from either Tucker Carlson or Donald Trump?
Consider the headline incorporated in this article: Kremlin all but admits Tucker Carlson is a useful idiot. The phrase "all but admits" tells me that the Kremlin did not in fact admit Carlson was a useful idiot. What's the point? Even if the assertion is true, so what?
Now I'm to fashion my understanding of foreign policy not just from what Tucker Carlson says but from what other people say he says.
God gave us enough intelligence to be conservatives let's not dishonor the gift.
The think Tucker was using the fentanyl addicted, homeless person who craps in the street per city block ratio as the comparison……
Tucker has fantastic interviews on his podcast.

Overall, when it comes to “sane” journalism there is Tucker Carlson and then everone else. The guy is down to earth, brilliant,has a great sense of humor first class old journalist and won’t take any sh-t. He’s tops in my book.

I visited Moscow and St Petersburg as a young teen back in ‘72 when they first opened up to Western visitors. It was still commie back then. Both cities were much cleaner than any US city and I could (and did) wander around Moscow at 12 midnight without any fear of crime despite Russia being quite poor at the time. Lots of pretty and classy women and I didn’t see one woman who was overweight. The food sucked however and the plane ride from Moscow to St Petersburg was scary on the Russian jet which felt like it would fall apart along the way.

Tuckers was spouting nonsense, how an attack on Iran would lead us to a war, that we would lose. Tucker, proven completely wrong by Trump. Isolationists left crying
But the second week of the war could be even worse. Iran isn’t Iraq or Libya, or even North Korea. While it’s often described as a rogue state, Iran has powerful allies. It’s now part of a global bloc called BRICS, which represents the majority of the world’s landmass, population, economy and military power. Iran has extensive military ties with Russia. It sells the overwhelming majority of its oil exports to China. Iran isn’t alone. An attack on Iran could very easily become a world war. We’d lose.
