At least we can walk out of a restaurant.
Proverbs 13:24 NLT
[24] Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
Personally speaking.....my parents cared enough.....and boy did they. 😏
Had that happen to me. I was in a nice restaurant at the top of a casino in Lake Tahoe with a bunch of friends. There were I think two or three couples with a few kids at a table near ours. Apparently they had just finished eating so the parents let the kids run around the restaurant, playing tag.
I had already had a couple of drinks so I stood up and yelled at the kids "get your asses back to your table and sit down and shut up".
Well, it got the result I wanted. The parents quickly gathered up the kids and left without saying a word.
In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have done it. But the behavior of those kids and the parents allowing them to run around just caused something in me to snap.
Our kids (as young as two 2 year olds and a 5 year old) used to get compliments in the restaurants for being so well-behaved. Of course it took a couple of times walking out of a McDonald’s or ice cream store without getting anything for them to get it.
“Nope - sorry. I told you earlier, if you can’t behave we would leave. No playing in the play area, and you can have peanut butter sandwiches when we get home.”
The twins were so excited to go on their first plane trip, I suppose they were six. Once we got up to cruising altitude they both said “This is it!?” Of course we had all sorts of drawing stuff and books and stuff for them as we flew coast to coast.
“That crap happens in restaurants and stores as well.”
And in ER’s.
