One entire city. One other city that’s pretty good except for having a “metropolitan” administrative area with its own politburo and tinpot Newsome-Castro wannabee looney dictator. The metro council has the dreams and capabilities closer to Detroit, San Francisco, Portland, etc. than anything Tennessee-like.
Wow, that is beautiful.
Ah. Franklin, 1.5hr drive due north from me. Right off I-65. Yeah, Nice little place.
And no income tax. I’ll take the sales tax any day over an income tax.
In-N-Out burger would be welcomed out here. The best we got right now is Whattaburger. In-N-Out is mo betta imho. I’d actually say that 5-Guys burger is the best but those dudes are insanely expensive.
“Ya’ll” is the plural of “youse”.
“”Posters on City-data commented on the friendliness of the people. One guy said they had set up a video camera on a tripod in an intersection of a subdivision they liked. They expected cops to show up and shoo them away. No cops, but several people came. They brought cookies, invited them to church, etc.
Anyhow, we really like it.””
Wow... it sounds like a Conservative stronghold (heaven) there. A sanctuary, IOW. Nice to know there are still places like that around the country that haven’t been ‘fundamentally transformed’ by leftist policies. Thanks for the info.
I’m seeing the crime exponentially increased here in Texas due to the influx of illegals. The change in demographics is definitely intentional, of course.
Memphis is Africa, not Tennessee
Could one of y’all tell me what “ya’ll” means?
Same thing as youse and youins.
It’s the people. Culture close to where it was in the 1950’s (40’s) in Michigan where I grew up. Yes Sir, No Ma’m, can we help you with that? Neighbors acting neighborly, (first week here) “Garage door is always open, borrow any tools you need - drop them off in the mailbox”, opening doors for ladies/seniors. Asking about your parents, kids, etc. Kinda like Pre-heaven.
No state income tax to claw your hard-earned retirement income, low (LOW) property tax, we thought it was an error.
If you also like music (all kinds, really) you find it everywhere, small venues, songwriter rounds, outdoor stages, Porches, sincere open mikes where new generations have the skills of paid professionals in other states.
NY’ers, Californians, Oregonians, Chi-town refugees welcome just don’t bring CA, NY, CHI, Portland with you. (Y’all ain’t raht)
Spot on. We travel a lot on business. The people in Tennessee are among the nicest kindest we ever encounter. Pretty much the whole south. The west coast are the least friendly. Miserable.
The did pretty well when they hit Dallas. Although there are a lot of Californian immigrants in the Dallas area that need to be rounded up and sent back to their third world homes.
If Nashville is in range of the Dallas facility, Birmingham would be, as well. And Kansas City.
two meanings, plural individuals: “Y’all have have a nice trip!”
entire groups of some common type: [Y’uh’all] ain’t raht, said to someone representing another state, culture, membership, etc.
You all.
Wow!..... I can’t believe someone would move out of a filthy state to a good state! ..../sarc
You do realize the “leadership” in Memphis has no idea the place has a bad reputation?
One ESPN reporter said players don’t want to be recruited by the Grizzlies because Memphis is so dirty and dangerous.
City “leaders” were aghast that anyone would say such a thing that’s so untrue (I’m not making this up).
Ghetto filler slang one uses when he doesn’t know what he will say next.
What have you got against Africa? I’m betting Accra is more civilized than Memphis.
I hear you. But I’m retired now, so no earned income to tax. But I still have to buy food.
