President Donald Trump weighed in on CBS’s announcement that it is canceling Stephen Colbert‘s late-night talk show — and the president is hopeful Jimmy Kimmel will be next to get axed.
CBS said Thursday that it plans to end “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” in May 2026, calling it a “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.”
“I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Friday morning. “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”

I watched Johnny Carson sometimes towards the end of his run but don't recall if there was anything political. If there was it would have been lighthearted and not designed to make people mad.

He said he doesn’t talk about politics because he’s following in the footsteps of other great comedians - Jack Benny, Red Skelton, etc, who used their shows to entertain.
He also said he thought it would be a terrible idea to use the Tonight Show to push political views. He didn’t think a person in that position would be able to keep from (I’m paraphrasing) becoming self-important.

When has a worthless Hollyweird production ever changed or saved someone’s life? NEVER. The world would be a much better place if Hollyweird didn’t exist. Music is much more important and personal than a silly movie.
Of course, there are exceptions such as James Woods and Jon Voight. They are decent, intelligent and patriotic, but the majority of the Hollyweird denizens HATE Americans and want to see the US destroyed.
I’m proud to say that I am unable to name any current actor or actress. Hollyweird just isn’t a part of my life.

They’ve been covering him and his family with buckets of slime for ten years now. I don’t blame him one bit for fighting back. People here used to rip GW Bush for not fighting back and they were right. The same smear tactics unresponded to hurt Bush and the Republicans in the end.

He is getting his stuff done for America and he is having fun doing it. If he wants to call morons out in the public space, have at it. He earned the right to do that. He fought his a$$ off against all odds to represent us. This is what a CEO does. Granted, not in front of 350 million people.
