RAND PAUL calls for prosecution of Dr Anthony Fauci and says his "autopen pardon" is invalid
X ^ | July 15 | Senator Paul

Posted on 07/15/2025 4:58:56 AM PDT by RandFan

@SenRandPaul

In July 2023, I referred Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Department of Justice for lying under oath to Congress. His own emails directly contradicted his sworn testimony.

@NYT reports Fauci was quietly pardoned by an autopen, operated by Biden’s staff. If the President didn’t authorize this pardon personally, then the Department has a duty to investigate and prosecute as it would any ordinary citizen.

Fauci has been sainted by the extremist Left, but it doesn’t erase his lying before Congress.

I am officially re-referring Dr. Fauci to the @DOJ .

Congress likely cannot do a single thing about past pardons. The pardon power in the constitution exist only in the president of United States, and is pretty much unlimited and cannot be regulated in any way by Congress. Further, you will have a lot of RINOs who will not vote to overturn a pardon, no matter how much evidence there is that Biden did not sign those pardons himself. Besides, it would be difficult to prove this, in the present circumstances, because Biden is claiming that he authorized what happened.

What should be done instead is for Congress to pass a law that will severely punish any government employee who uses an auto pen or any other means or device to sign the name of the president on any official act. Basically, it would be a law against forging the signature of the president. There could be a mandatory term of 20 years, with no parole or plea bargain permitted.

Fresh off his attempt to take down the MAGA bill debacle, now he’s trying to consolidate his base by attacking a sure thing to please them with something that will be inconsequential.

Going there when it doesn’t matter and will affect nothing.

Go Rand.

Not a huge fan of Rand Paul; remember he has to get other majority members to agree hearings are necessary and his to get Thune (Senate majority leader) to authorize it. For what ever reason that’s not being done. All Rand can do at this point is score PR points publicizing it and publicizing himself. Publicizing himself he likes to do anyway.

And if succeeds get the dirt, he can’t try Fauci all the can do is make a referral to DOJ and send the report with the dirt.

Wonder how much money Biden’s staff made off the autopen and how many now live in a manor named HAVEALOT on the arched gate entrance?.

With Rand and Fauci, “it’s not just business, it’s personal.”

I hate to be the skeptic here, but absolutely nothing will happen with this. First of all, Trump‘s DOJ has continually shown us that they have no interest in prosecuting anything. They are content to write tweets and truths to get us all excited for nothing to ever happen.

But from a practical standpoint, nothing will come of this they will simply argue that Biden was made aware of the potential pardons and commutations, that they were discussed, and he sent it to them and they went and issued the pardons via auto pen. There is enough plausible deniability in the New York Times article that this will go nowhere. Of course the DOJ could push the issue and invalidate some of these pardons and go litigate it in court, but we know that that won’t happen.

A distraction from his vote to raise taxes.
RP won’t be able to get 60 votes in Senate for anything. He has nothing to do with the judicial process than flap his lips.

Obidens wasn’t mentally competent to approve squat much less the autopen.

Of course he wasn’t, but his doctor refuses to admit that, and of course, Biden won’t admit it, either.

The Constitutions specifically prohibits retroactive laws.

It would be an ex post facto law to criminalize an act after it was done. A law clarifying that all presidential pardons must be actually signed by POTUS would not criminalize any act, it would just remove a dubious immunity to prosecution. Let SCOTUS decide the matter, but Congress should act.

Because Biden didn't physically sign this himself, it opens up a can of worms who did, and by what authority. Congress could pass a law regulating POTUS's use of the autopen. It's not something the founders anticipated when writing the constitution. Since POTUS must faithfully execute the law, and Congress passes the laws, SCOTUS would need to decide the constitutional arguments. The spineless in Congress would need to act first before anything can be done.

Rand needs to recover his standing among conservatives, so he's back on this issue like a dog with a rag. Just as well that it's this issue, though.

Unfortunately all Biden has to do is say, “yeah I approved all of them”

Poor. Gone.
