COVID is still around and a risk to vulnerable people. What are the symptoms in 2025? And how long does it last?
The Times(AU) ^ | 7/14/25 | Meru Sheel, Associate Professor and Epidemiologist, Infectious Diseases, Immunisation and Emergencie

Posted on 07/14/2025 1:00:51 PM PDT by DallasBiff

Five years ago, COVID was all we could think about. Today, we’d rather forget about lockdowns, testing queues and social distancing. But the virus that sparked the pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, is still circulating.

Most people who get COVID today will experience only a mild illness. But some people are still at risk of severe illness[1] and are more likely to be hospitalised with COVID. This includes older people, those who are immunocompromised by conditions such as cancer, and people with other health conditions such as diabetes.

Outcomes also tend to be more severe in those who experience social inequities such as homelessness. In the United Kingdom[2], people living in the 20% most deprived areas have double chance of being hospitalised from infectious diseases than those in the least deprived areas.

I do not need to know when people around tge planet get a cold or ‘flu. Why would I have to know when they get COVID? I do NOT care.

I went to the site, quickly scrolled through the article until I found:

“Vaccination remains the best way to prevent COVID”

An outright lie and enough to tell me this is propaganda.

Some people still insist on wearing their masks. A few may have chronic conditions which make them more vulnerable to infection, and a small number treat the mask like a good luck charm or magic amulet, provide a “firewall” of protection. I usually don’t say anything about such masks, unless it muffles the other person’s voice, so that I can’t understand what they’re trying to say.

Seriously? I didn’t fall for it the first time - but I have some sympathy for those who did (a little).

Anyone who gets fooled again is a complete moron.

The only people I see wearing a mask I suspect are hiding their identity.

Mask wearing has been the biggest gift to the criminal element since the Saturday night special.

Covid has ALWAYS been around and always WILL. It’s the common cold. It constantly mutates. That’s why it can’t be prevented or eradicated. The symptoms can be alleviated but that’s about it.

Me either. Honestly, if you would have told me before covid how weak minded many Americans are and all the stupid covid rules they would comply with I would have told you your crazy.

ESPECIALLY the shot.

Remember! No symptoms is a symptom. And you may have to take a test to see if you’re sick. That’s how you identify a pandemic.

Starting about a week ago, I lost my senses of taste and smell. I feel all right otherwise.

Covid is not “around”.
Never took Covid vaccine ( and neither did Djokovic) and we are both as healthy as ever.

Is one of the symptoms “no symptoms at all” still or is that one gone?

My pulmonologist still wears a mask. At least he is down to just one, he used to layer-up.

What is with these Covid people? We Lysol sprayed everything we brought in from outside, including the inside of the car, our hands, and doorknobs. Neither my Wife nor I contracted Covid. The worse we got was some minor rhino-cold and it was very weak. It wasn’t even a regular cold. We will do the same this winter season.
