Recalled Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless-Steel Insulated Water Bottle, model 83-662

“That’s because when a consumer attempts to open the bottles “after food, carbonated beverages or perishable beverages, such as juice or milk, are stored inside over time,” the lid can eject forcefully, the CPSC notes.”
Carbonated beverages, eh???
These bottles are NOT designed to be pressurized! It’s the buyer’s fault for mis-use!

We should go back to giving Daisy BB guns out as presents.
To: Red Badger
So a moron puts milk or juice in there, and it ferments and builds up pressure and hurts the idiot when they open it?
Unreal. Can’t wait to see what the new design is.

It needs a pressure-release channel opening before the top is fully unscrewed.

I had one of those pump misting spray bottles. I used it to mist my bread dough to get a nice crust. It exploded in my hands while pumping it to pressurize it. It didn't just crack or split. It exploded, embedded into the ceiling, sliced right thru my palm and out the side (six stitches). After inspecting the others (it was a three pack) I realized there was no pop-off or over-pressure relief designed into it, so I threw the rest away in the trash. Lesson learned, but I'm not going to sue anybody.
Water under the right conditions is 1,100% more volatile in expansion than ignited gasoline.
I don't know when I stopped using my brain?

It sounds like you described a pressurized sprayer, such as I use for insecticide.

Look at the shape of the container, it is like necked down rifle brass that you reload.
The projectile diameter is small but the large container will multiply the velocity when it is released.

On a soda bottle the threads are someone how designed to be able to release the pressure. The threads on this device must be really tight.

So now there are 850,000 blind people? and, a little bit late to recall them after they caused blindness!
To: citizen
Yup I just looked at a Pepsi plastic cap. They have 4 vertical channels cut in the threads. Now we know what those are for.

Yes, but much smaller. Like four ounces. My hand held yard spray tanks all have pop-off safety features. In the kitchen I am reverting to the trigger spray bottles and for olive oil I use the liquor bottle bar pour inserts. A ten pack was like $4 on Jeffazon. I’m going gangbusters thru the gin and tonics this summer, so I have one in my gin bottle, too.

Good point. ‘Loose’ threads would do it.

I think I will keep my hand guns. I don’t travel much any more.
I’m 77 years old, had thought much about concealed weapons until the Obozo and Biden administrations.
We have farms 4 miles from town, I never go to the farm without a hand gun now.
I shoot much better with rifles.

One of my most annoying bosses ever was a packaging engineer. I'm getting out in front on this one and attributing it to his handiwork. Nice work, Glen.
Glen was a real waste of an idiot. Most idiots find a happy and productive niche. Not Glen.
