A small settlement in Greenland is holding its collective breath as an iceberg of titanic proportions drifts dangerously close to shore — and residents’ homes.
For days now, the freakishly large frozen mass has been on a collision course with tiny Innaarsuit — leading local authorities to issue a warning to residents.
If the fearsome frosty float were to make contact with the shore or break apart, potential damage and injuries could follow, officials said.
Though it’s unlikely any broken ice chunks would fall directly on land, the impact of pieces of plummeting permafrost would create massive waves, which could sweep ashore.

I blane the Jews....Iceberg....Goldberg....Greenberg, what’s the difference?
Might be a disguise for aliens. Better nuke em from orbit.
See photo, post #43.
Yeah but do they have tornadoes?
Megaberg? Gigantiberg? New Improved Berg?

I was startled to watch the 1948 crime movie Naked City which had many actual scenes of New York settings for the drama. A number of times there were horse drawn wagons in NYC among the trucks and cars. I would have assumed there weren’t any horse wagons by 1948 but I was wrong. This was the origin of the later series “There are 8 million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.” Won an Academy Award for the cinematography.
John Wayne chipped a piece from an iceberg from the deck of his converted mine sweeper, the Wild Goose to ice down his guests’ alcoholic beverages.
He wasn’t scared, any more than his John Wayne TP™ found in the ships heads:
“It’s Rough and Tough, and Don’t Take S*** Off Nobody, Even Icebergs”.
But think of all the mixed drinks that could be made ... “Shaken, not stirred”.
Will the opening salvo of Operation Greenland Freedom be a wing of B-2s dropping GBU-57 Berg Buster bombs? 30,000 pound bombs able to smash through 300 feet of ice before detonating.
Yes. That’s why I said it’s “cool”. It’s very cool. Hope that thing doesn’t wend its way down to Guam or PEOPLE WILL DIE!
They’re pinin’ for the fjords!
We’re all gonna die. Right now!
Think of the ice sculptures some artists could make.....
Build your house really close to the shore and then complain about tides, floods etc.
One of my favorite Three Stooges episode was them delivering the ice.
The other one was the Census takers.
That water just offshore is really really deep ,WOW
