People there should invest in a window unit for heatwaves, of course higher incomes should have some economical A/C for at least a portion of the house.
Most of the poor in America would at the least drop $150 dollars on a 5,000 btu unit to cool a room or take off the edge in their apartment.
By the way, with their habit of gardening, limiting water could be causing a lot of angst in Britain.

In Switzerland you need GOVERNMENT PERMISSION to buy an air conditioner. (meanwhile, Egyptians are now buying them by the millions). I suspect it’s similar in other European countries.

Many on our side figure they can handle whatever the government throws at them...which then gives them the ‘justification’ to sit out elections when the only Republican option is a RINO...thereby implying they’re good with the Democrat.
Maybe some can - in the woods, on 10 acres, with 3000 gallons of propane, solar, batteries, 5 refrigerators, and 5 air conditioners.
...but can their children survive the hellscape, or their grandchildren?

We LOVE our air conditioning! I didn’t have it until I was 16 in N. Oklahoma where summers are sizzling hot. I don’t know what a hose pipe is but I love my AC and central heat and our local swim pool! Amen! I thank God every day for AC.

I agree. I grew up without AC and our college housing often didn’t have AC. I am almost 75 and a heart attack survivor. I need AC. When I was young the heat and cold didn’t bother me.
