Brits always come up with crazy names for things.
Back when The Onion was actually funny and not just straight leftwing drivel, I recall them publishing an atlas of the world, with brief summaries of each country. One of the info fields they had for each country was "language".
For the UK, the "language" field was something to the effect of:
"A crude, debased form of English"
