Wow. Brings back memories.
Ever hear the tunes by Poppa Doo Run Run? They do the Beach Boys better than the Beach Boys. They used the same studio and equipment and arrangements they used. Their harmony is fantastic, you’d bet you were hearing the BB’s.
For more than five decades, I thought the refrain on “I Get Around” was, “I get around all the time. Like a locoweed, I feel really great.” When I finally accessed an Internet lyrics site, I learned that the lyrics actually are, “I get around from town to town. I’m a real cool head; I’m making real good bread.”
Let's Carry Barry to the White House--Jan McCall
Ironically written by Paul McCartney.
I’m getting bugged driving up and down this same old strip
I gotta find a new place where the kids are hip
My buddies and me are getting real well-known
Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone
[Chorus: Brian Wilson]
I get around
Get around, round, round, I get around
From town to town
Get around, round, round, I get around
I’m a real cool head
Get around, round, round, I get around
I’m making real good bread
Get around, round, round, I get around
I get around, round
Get around, round, round, oooh
Wah wa ooh
Wah wa ooh
Wah wa ooh
[Verse 2: Mike Love]
We always take my car ‘cause it’s never been beat
And we’ve never missed yet with the girls we meet
None of the guys go steady ‘cause it wouldn’t be right
To leave their best girl home on a Saturday night
[Chorus: Brian Wilson]
