The song, “Gabriel’s Oboe,” from Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack from the movie, “The Mission,” is one of the most sublime pieces of music in the history of man.
Brilliant performance on a brass instrument, although I do prefer the sound of a wooden oboe:

So much of what Morricone composed has that incredibly heart-touching quality The music from Cinema Paradiso about kills me. I went to see the film in the local "art" cinema multiple times back in the 80s. At the time, even Blockbuster didn't have that exquisite Italian film.
