Not sure what is going on with the Epstein issue, but the reality is that the country has worse problems. If Trump needs to burn political capitol on the past, I am more concerned with getting the corrupt elements of the FBI, the DOJ , our intelligence agencies and the administrative state under control
That's where the action is.
After 30 years of active cover up by previous administrations pursuing thirty year old events where records have been destroyed and that largely occurred out of the US jurisdiction and are time barred if there is jurisdiction the juice is just not worth the squeeze.
Look at what just happened in the miscarriage of justice in the Diddy case to see how badly these kinds of prosecutions involving disgusting sexual perversions engaged in by the powerful rich and famous people can go sideways
This is a very transactional, realpolitik course of action and probably dishonorable on a number of levels, but as Trump has said - the world is a nasty place.
I suspect Bondi is not happy with the situation, Patel is seriously pissed but will accept his marching orders. Bongino seems to have a very strong sense of honor and a brand built on that sense of honor so he may have serious problems.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
