An ICE raid on a California cannabis farm descended into chaos and violence on Thursday with a protestor opening fire on federal agents while tear gas billowed around them.
The mayhem unfolded at Glass House Farms in Ventura County in Carpinteria, near Los Angeles.
Members of the National Guard were deployed to the scene along with law enforcement agents.
Just seconds after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents fired smoke canisters into a crowd of demonstrators near Laguna Road, one individual could be clearly seen raising a firearm and appeared to discharge it in the agents' direction.
The raid was part of the broad federal crackdown on undocumented workers in Southern California - but it quickly spiraled into bedlam.
Agents blocked off roads and stormed the facility in what witnesses described as a sudden and aggressive operation.
Tear gas choked the air, smoke bombs were thrown and projectiles flew.
Protesters, farmworkers, and family members scattered through the fields, many screaming, some hit, with others pouring milk over their faces to soothe burning eyes.
At least three people were taken to the hospital while dozens more were detained.

Also notice that it manages to put “ICE” in the subject of the sentence. It takes a lot of brain processing power to perceive that an “ICE protestor” is protesting AGAINST ICE, not FOR it. Even if your intellect processes it correctly (as most non-stupid people would admittedly be able to do so quickly that the correction is made before they realize they ever needed correcting), the instant of ambiguity dulls your emotional response enough so you don’t form knee-jerk reactions against those scary protestors.
C’mon... it was mostly peacful. Only one gun was discharged at the Police.
I know that area well. It is a sleepy little community surrounded by Agriculture. Costner has a $50-$60 mil place there. Prime country. What a shame. Watch the loonies come out and defend the kids working on the farms putting out meals for us privileged folk. The majority of cannabis growers operate without permit. Don’t know if this is one of them, though I kind of doubt it given the openness of the operation. That said, kids in the field with these crops? idiots.
Pouring milk into your eyes is a great way to introduce harmful bacteria into your eyes. Milk is easily contaminated, especially in hot weather.. Water or saline rinse is much more effective and safer.
I read the grow operation was legal. Just another way for California to generate taxes. So since there are child work laws in California where was the State over the years enforcing child labor laws? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I could be wrong. I was watching a channel on YT that while reporting/covering the action claimed it was an illegal pot farm op.
The very fact that the protesters had milk on hand to sooth teargassed eyes pretty much tells us they were looking to start trouble.
