Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told interviewer Tucker Carlson that people shouldn't take his country's 'death to America' slogans literally – claiming the phrase is more about calling for a 'death to bullying.'
Pezeshkian made the comment to the podcaster and former Fox News host, who wanted to know if Americans should fear the phrase calling for their country's annihilation or having the U.S. referred to as the 'great Satan.'
The Iranian president called it a 'very wrong impression.'
'When they say death to the United States ... they don't mean death for the people of the United States or even to the officials of the United States,' he said. 'They mean death to crimes, death to killing and carnage, death to supporting, killing others, to insecurity and instability.'
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has used the phrase, which has also broken out during rallies and speeches in Iran.
'Yes, it will happen. Death to America will happen,' Khamenei declared in 2022.
Khamenei once again endorsed the chant in May, on the eve of nuclear talks with the U.S. that came before Israel began its bombing campaign targeting Iran's missiles, nuclear sites, and nuclear scientists.
'Your judgment is right,' Khamenei told a crowd cheering the slogan in Tehran. 'Americans support Israel's crimes,' he added.
Pezeshkian, in full spin mode, told Carlson that Iran has never invaded another country in 200 years.
Carlson held a solemn expression but did not interrupt as he attempted to dispute the notion that Iranians wanted to harm Americans.
'Have you ever heard [of] an Iranian killing an American? Have you heard that? Or a terrorist that was Iranian and he carried out a terrorist attack against the Americans?

Thank goodness Tucker gave this guy a platform to clear up this misunderstanding for all of us. How could we be so wrong about the real meaning of their death chants?
I often disagree with Tucker.
That said, I appreciate that he brings interviews no one else will do.
His job is to encourage them to talk.
And Muqtada al Sadr has plenty of American blood on his evil hands. And he’s still breathing.
Iran’s been backing that POS for years.
Tucker could have asked the muzzie about their EFP attacks on American solders and contractors in Iraq. As well as their bombing on the marine barracks in Beirut. But he chose not to.
Tucker:
You can’t be that gullible, can you?
American
Not his job.
I do understand zeepers get apoplectic when you mention Tucker’s name.
Tucker is a muzzie apologist.
What is the deal w Tucker Carlson?
It’s all about the trolling.
mucus is a tuckgasm apologist.
Not his job.
I do understand zeepers get apoplectic when you mention Tucker’s name.
Tucker has become a caricature of himself. Does anyone actually take him seriously anymore?

It is his job to ask the muzzie about Beirut and his EFP attacks. Instead, Tucker cried when President Trump droned Soleimani and sent him straight to hell.
Pk, NOW he is a TRAITOR
Dear God - what a child! Although I used to enjoy his travelogues, I always got the impression that he had the strength of character and backbone of the Pillsbury Dough Boy. I had a good friend like him, a decent guy who had the same world view of the little children in “Peanuts.” He just couldn’t conceive that there really were evil people in the world who might rejoice at his and his country’s destruction. His knowledge of history was slight and reflected the leftist teachers and professors he learned it from.
I like to think that I’m a student of history but my attitude towards it is as skewered as his was only, to the other side. After learning of supposedly advanced civilizations, culturally renowned and filled with scholars and accomplished creators, who later condoned some of the cruelest and barbaric behavior while conquering other countries, my stance is never to take a chance on relying on the comforting idea that we’re all the same around the world. We’re not and the only thing that keeps us from being victims is our adherence to Washington’s advice: “If you want peace, prepare for war.” Just don’t rely on the Kumbaya attitude of silly children like Rick Steves.
Death to Shia Islam…..
Nope. His job wasn’t to dance to the flute music zeepers play.
He got the guy to talk.
He gave an unpopular enemy a chance to be listened to and judged by listeners.
