In any case, they should get "in" with the Comanche Tribe ... like Florida State University is "in" with the Seminole Tribe. Call the team the Washington Comanches ...Not pejorative, not stupid, and possibly of mutual benefit.

There was a contest for the Wizards name change... radio call-in, write in, votes... the whole 9 yards.

I called in and got on the air with my “non-violent” name... (the why... to the Bullets change). I explained to the DJ why I chose thus name,
1. It wasn’t violent and
2. It it didn’t stray too far from the original.

My entry... “The Luv Bullets”

The DJ even let it slip through the filter!
