You will never catch me on a cruise ship. It sounds like hell.

Yup.
I know I would feel like I was trapped in a mall that I don't want to be at.
there are plenty of good cruise lines- Carnival has ALWAYS been a craphole....people go because its cheap- but you get what you pay for...
About ten years ago one of their ships ran out of fuel in the Gulf of America and meandered around the water for days. People were asked not to use their bathrooms and go in plastic bags...
If you ever want to sit back and have a laugh at obama’s peeps search “fights on carnival cruises”.....great entertainment...
I have been on one and only one cruise. The ships are floating cafeterias, and the one I was on had excellent food, prompting overeaters.
I’m told you can take cruises where you are less likely to run into these sorts of people but I agree...the interiors in photos look like a giant shopping mall. That alone qualifies as hell IMO. But my friends really like cruises because you stay in the same room instead of going from airport to airport, hotel to hotel.
Back in 2007, an old work friend who was living in Arizona at the time told me she had booked a 5 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera, and invited me to come along. I'd never been on a cruise, and she said it would be a good opportunity for me to take one to see if it was anything I'd want to do in the future. I flew out there, and we drove to San Diego. To offset her cost for the cruise, I paid for the tours we took at the ports we stopped at. I wasn't impressed with the ship environment. I didn't like that you had to eat at a certain time, and was forced to sit around a big table with people you didn't know. The food was good, but I couldn't believe that at breakfast, they didn't even have warm toast that the butter could melt on.
We had no brawls back then, but I'm not a cruise person. It was the first and last one I took, and if I had wanted to take another one, Mexico was the last place I'd be going.
My cruise count is approaching 55. Most enjoyable 400+ days spent sailing the oceans. Never had a problem, never got sick on a ship. September 2021-through 2003 December was the best time to cruise. Every one was required to wear masks in public places, and required to be fully covid vaccinated. ships were only half full, and cruise prices were discounted 50%. My wife and I took advantage of the discounts and did several cruises during that period.
The NICE cruise lines are FABULOUS!! DON”T GO!! YOU HAVE TO WEAR PANTS!!
I am with you. As a former Navy line officer, my only interest would be spending hours on the bridge of the ship. That is not allowed.

Meh, I’ve been taking Carnival cruises for 10 years. Never had a problem. Even with my kids. Their crews are superb with phenomenal management.
Haven’t been in 2 years tho. Maybe things have changed?
Looks like Carnival is cracking down on personal space trespassers.
‘Black Entrepreneurship’ can always make its own cruise line.
Seen some videos that warrant the crack down.
I’ve never seen the Urban Crowd in their Trivia Contests. I’m culturally deprived.
Samuel Johnson said that being on a ship is the same as being in jail, with the added danger of drowning. But not being caught in the equivalent of a prison riot.
Actually, a cruise can be a lot of fun.
On my most recent cruise, we went through the Panama Canal. Everyone was very excited to see the canal—even crew members were out taking pictures and capturing the moment. We saw a cargo ship going the other direction and its crew was out on deck, waving to us and taking our pictures.
We also had stops in Columbia, Panama, Guatemala, and Mexico, where we took tours and learned about the local cultures. This is where I found out that if I get lost in a Spanish-speaking country, I’ll be able to get by on my pathetic Spanish.
On sea days, there are plenty of activities to choose from. Live shows, movies, trivia, educational lectures, lounging at the pool—there is so much to do!
My next cruise is going to begin and end in Southhampton, UK. We’ll visit ports in Spain and Portugal, but the highlight will be the solar eclipse on Aug. 12, 2026.
Some people cruise for the sea days and the activities on board the ship. Others cruise for the port calls and tours of interesting places.
I’ll admit that there was a time when cruises did not sound appealing at all. But now that I’ve tried it (five times now), I have learned that they are very worthwhile.
My first cruise was on Carnival back in 2005. My most recent cruises, between 2022 and 2025 were on Royal Caribbean. I do prefer Royal Caribbean.
