No, weβre closer to the Gulf of America, but we have numerous friends in the area. ππ»
He was the first one I thought of.
And then James Avery....the company I worked for for nearly 20 years, based in Kerrville.
Thank God for the Cajun Navy!
A replay of Helene...
Amen!
This has been happening almost yearly, but the officials in charge have done nothing to correct the problem. They react went it benefits them politically. Too late this time since the damage is done. Abbott needs to kick a$$.
A Christian girls camp was destroyed. At least six are missing.
For pity’s sake, do NOT rely on FEMA.
Speaking from personal experience; the BEST relief agency is Samaritan’s Purse...bar none. They will use your donations effectively.
Yesβ¦the bluffs and high banks along the Guad make for dangerously fast flowing and VERY DEEP floodwaters.
We had a friend who used to go to the Guad and Comal rivers, with his metal detector, after holiday weekends.
Lots of rings and watches.
I remember this flood along the Guadalupe.
Another tip, Kerrville...CASH IS KING!
My (now grown) kids have spent many weeks at summer camps, along the Guad.
Church and scout camps.

You are right-a drought in this Western part of the Hill Country always ends in one or more floods that result in loss of lives and property-it is almost always in Summer when the whole area is full of tourists...
I’m about 35 miles from Kerr County in Bandera county, which is on the Medina River-so we are not getting a huge flood-just some of the low river and creek crossing roads as of now are under water-but it will get higher by evening as the river gets more water from where it starts in Kerr county-I drove over the creek bridge on this road a couple of hours ago-the water was not over the bridge-my old 4x4 only got wet tires. I was in my 1st flood in the Hill Country at the age of 3 when visiting my grandparents in the Summer-it seems to happen about every 10 years or so...
Most of the floodplain is clearly marked on maps/deeds, and you are not supposed to build there. Some people do it anyway-but insurance companies won’t pay for the loss if you do that knowingly-people who move here from out of the area, not believing it will flood here...
Just horrific.
Iβve been in Comfort when heavy rains came. It was all we could do to quickly gather our things and (barely) get out!
Minutes later the road washed out. (Was at a retreat,)
when the levee breaks mamma you gotta move.
prayer’s up!
He will have good information. I'm modding on the π version. :)
He will also bring the OBBB signing when it happens. WoooHooo!!
Thank you, Jim. It’s a deadly situation. Sadly.
