Lindsey Graham claims sole authority to decide if GOP megabill complies with Budget laws

The Senate’s presiding Republican chair has ruled that Senate Budget Committee Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has the sole authority to decide if provisions of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act violate the 1974 Congressional Budget Act or other budget laws, a controversial ruling Democrats tried to overturn but failed.

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), who was presiding over the Senate at the time, ruled that the chair will not sustain any budgetary points of order against the massive bill unless Graham as Budget chair says they are valid objections — drastically limiting the power of Democrats, who are in the minority.

It's an upside down world

Hagerty has been a surprisingly straight shooter for my state but declaring Graham the final arbiter is a stretch even for this marginal-majority effort. I’d feel much better if Lindsey were confined to drooling over Defense bills.

There’s good reason President Trump golfs with him all the time (Enemies Closer).

Yeah, there is no such word as “budget” in his vocabulary.

“Hagerty has been a surprisingly straight shooter for my state”

Of course, he DID voter to certify Biden’s stolen election along with his partner in crime, Blackburn. I hate them both; they’re supposed to do the right thing for us in TN and they failed.

Graham wants the bill to pass, so for anyone who also wants the bill to pass, this is a positive development. Graham's positions on other issues are irrelevant.

That's why the Democrats are angry.

Exactly - he's 100% aligned with Trump on the BBB.

I honestly don't know whether that is good or bad. I agree completely with those who want to cut spending, but it doesn't appear the votes are there in the House or Senate to support a significantly more conservative bill. Stopping this particular bill is pointless if you can't pass something better.

The way to get around the parliamentarian and filibuster is to first pass a reconciliation bill with tax changes (22% VAT, 80% corporate tax rate, 80% top personal bracket tax rate) even Senate Democrats would despise and then offer up a follow-up corrective bill which would remove the despicable tax changes and add the stuff that should get passed.

Defense bills are the last thing the Goober needs to slobber on.

Politeness demands we DON’T want to know what makes Graham salivate. Wars and his suspected profiteering from them is enough.

Maybe he likes forever wars because they are of legal age?

Back on January 6th, 2001 Graham got detached from his buddies "across the aisle" who were fleeing like the guilty they are. Finding himself with some staffers and Capitol Policemen he heard the sound of commoners approaching.

"You have guns. Use them!" he demanded. On the calm rubber-neckers who were destined to be screwed over by Injustice anyway.

That, to me, says more about his lowliness than any sexual deviancy. He's unfit to represent an AA meeting, let alone a Senatorial district.

He’s a prime example of all the neocon warmongers.
