Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, on Monday said he would back challengers to members of Congress who vote for President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill."

Musk broke his short-lived X silence about the bill over the weekend, unloading on it for being “utterly insane.” On Monday, Musk criticized “every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history,” vowing that “they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

Yeah, I saw where he posted on X that he would fund primary opponents for those that voted for the bill.

In a somewhat related story, check out this headline:

"Planned Parenthood funding at grave risk after Senate ruling"

You’re not as important as you think you are Elon.

He must be on some bad ketamine this week (or good ketamine??). He is pissed about them dropping the absurd tax breaks for wind and solar farms. All America needs is more nuclear. Solar and wind are inefficient and ridiculously wasteful of land. If solar is so damn great, then let them invest in it. The taxpayers don’t need to join them.

Ever think Trumpster and Musk are playing games with those who have been playing games on us for years?

I hope he does, this bill is turning into a sham. Senate is gutting so much of the good parts.

It is not the biggest debt increase in history.

So many don’t understand this bill because they haven’t read it. It does some great things. Some want to throw the baby out with the bath water as they say.

Debt limit increases are not debt. It’s flexibility.

I’m amazed how so many jerks in Congress want to die on this hill after creating the mess we are in with CRs and Omnibus BS.

They don’t read them. Their staff doesn’t read them. It’s all “change sub paragraph A to article 4 word “The” to “It” and silly language like that.

I thought we fought a revolution. So why play parliamentarian silliness? We aren’t Europe.

No, I don’t think so.

I think Elon is an autistic spoiled teenager.

Except for a couple hard heads....All the Republicans will vote for it.

I think Musk doesn't realize that running a company where you answer to no one...and running a nation where you answer to everyone are not the same.

Alas...he offers no solution...

Elon’s a smart guy. A well-funded third party MIGHT be a useful vehicle for a single candidate who wants to work around the system or at a single state level. as a productive force for Congress? No. 100+ years of two-party cooperation locking out other parties makes that impossible. In the 60s, the hippies took over the Democrats, Trump’s MAGA coalition is forcing an unwilling Republican Party into a relignment. These things are tectonic, and happen in ruptures and reconsolidations over a generation. patience, Elon. We might run out oftime before a collapse, then you might have an opportunity to move faster, like Millei in Argentina. That’s a painful way to go.

Musk does have a point.

Democrats: We will not stop borrowing and spending.
Republicans: We will stop borrowing and spending. Just not now.

I do get that Musk might have ulterior motives here. And the bill does contain some good things. Yet he does have a point.

I see where he is coming from. The spineless Johnson has allowed that rat “parliamentarian” to gut most of the good parts out of the bill. He is using her as cover willingly surrendering on every cut she makes.

Uncle Jed needs to have a looooong talk with Jethro.

...only who is Uncle Jed and who is Jethro?

Between the Parliamentarian and the carve-outs/backroom deals...is this becoming the usual bloatware (passed on a Friday news dump)... the kind we've come to know and hate?

Besides, I thought folks here preferred "many small beautiful bills" over "one big beautiful bill"...???

I know a lot of 2A people aren't very happy right now.

Wonder what a 'freeper poll would show on the bill passing/not?

I'm all for cuts...so long as it starts with foreign aid, foreign invaders and domestic criminals/shysters waste, fraud and abuse.

I love what Elon has done for our country by coming aboard the Trump Train last yr. However, he obviously doesn’t understand American politics. Trump has to make deals to get bills passed in our razor-thin majority Congress. He can’t take a scalpel to it like Elon tried to do with DOGE. He needs to STFU and let Trump do his magic.
