Russian President Vladimir Putin has refrained from providing military support to Iran amid its recent 12-day standoff with Israel and the United States, despite years of defense cooperation between the two nations. Observers say this calculated distance, particularly during Iran’s time of need, signals a shift in Moscow’s foreign policy priorities — one that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is likely watching with unease.
On June 23, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Moscow amid the conflict, seeking at least diplomatic backing. Putin’s response was limited to describing the airstrikes as “acts of aggression.” There was no mention of military assistance.
Since the outbreak of the Ukraine war in 2022, Iran has supplied Russia with thousands of drones, artillery shells and ammunition. In January of this year, the two countries signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Yet during Iran’s brief war, Russia maintained a conspicuous silence.
Russian officials justified their inaction by pointing to the absence of a mutual defense clause in the agreement and claimed that Tehran never formally requested assistance. Still, many analysts argue that Russia’s restraint influenced Iran’s eventual decision to accept U.S.-brokered cease-fire efforts.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Russia MUST be short on supplies. I can’t think of another explanation, but I am sure maybe our Russian bloggers can enlighten me to other possibilities.
If I am correct, then you can bet that China is eyeing western Russian territories. Ukraine really isn’t worth losing western Russia over.
Perhaps PDJT’s advice to “take care of your own war” made an impression on Putin.

You mean eastern don’t you?
I just watched a movie titled ‘SISU’ about a lone Finland commando who the German SS messed with-big mistake. Not that good but the sequel’s coming out in
November.
Maybe we wont get in his way if he wont get in ours.
Iran amid its recent 12-day standoff with Israel and the United States
in my best Jim Mora voice:
“Standoff?! Don’t talk about standoff! You kidding me?! Standoff?!”
The way he addressed Putin (”Do me a favor...”) is exactly the way my father used to talk to me, when he had had enough of my nonsense.
And he was from he NYC area too.
I have said repeatedly that the US action vs Iran and especially Trump’s dynamic speech that Saturday evening should have sent people dancing in the streets in Taiwan, South Korea, Israel and NATO countries. Conversly, their counterparts should have had a sleepless night after hearing Trump. There is no doubt at all now that the bad boys of the world are penned up for the time being and they know it.
More like an a**whooping.
Siberia, so yes.
Let’s say China does something provocative in Siberia. We’ll need to let them come to blows before doing anything. Works best.
China will be near the doorstep of Germany before we can do anything I am afraid.
