Back in the late 80s, we were in a duck blind in Nebraska around 6:00 a.ma and three of us saw something similar in the sky where it exploded and lit up the morning sky. Monitored the newspapers for spacer junk, meteor etc. but never did figure out what it was but it was cool to see.
Saw a similar fireball on Camp LeJeune one early morning on the Rifle Range, just before sunrise.
A huge GREEN fireball blazed horizontally across the sky from East to West, totally silent. It must have skipped across the atmosphere like a stone on a lake and then exited for parts unknown................
