Not doubtful as long as Trump is in.
After Trump, if we get an Obama type, all bets are off.
That’s the problem with us. There is (((NO CONSISTENCY.)))
Every 4 years we have major policy shifts and nations like Iran have come to learn and exploit this.
Democracy is great. The will of the people, adapt with the times (technology, emerging threats, changes in demographics...).
The problem though, is that we also do not respect our own promises, even signed to treaties (Ballistic Missile Treaty / Conventional Forces Europe Treaty) made by predecessors. This is what caused the war in Ukraine, NATO East expansion, we just won’t accept the responsibility and deflect with rhetorical nonsense like “war of aggression” or “unprovoked Russian attack.”
Likewise, nations like Iran have learned that every four years is an opportunity for them to reshuffle the cards. Even Saddam did this. As soon as Bush H. was out of office and Clinton came in, he began testing us. Saddam began to push the limits of the armistice and even violated it in many ways (violations of no fly and wheel zones, 150km missile range limit...).
Our political system with it’s rotating door for policy makers (Presidents, Congress, Senior Executive Schedule) makes us highly inconsistent.
Russian lie. Name the treaty NATO broke on "East expansion".
Let me educate you, there is ONLY ONE treaty in regards to NATO expansion. It is called the "Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany". "No foreign armed forces, nuclear weapons, or the carriers for nuclear weapons would be stationed or deployed in six states (the area of Berlin and the former East Germany), making them a permanent Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone".
There is NO OTHER TREATY that bans eastward expansion of NATO.
Statements said in negotiations, which are NOT part of a treaty are just that, negotiations.
LOL, In 2019 Trump withdrew from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty BECAUSE RUSSIA WAS CHEATING. No surprise
President Donald J. Trump to Withdraw the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty
Foreign Policy Issued on: February 1, 2019
Russia has not, unfortunately, honored the agreement, so we’re going to terminate the agreement. We’re going to pull out.

Precisely! On the home front business faces the herky jerky policies of taxation and regulation. It is a wonder that US business not only survives in these conditions but does pretty well. Ditto for our people.
I wonder what it would be like to have a steady hand on the tiller to steer a steady course through time?
