Just be glad they aren't Welsh!
At least the Welsh stick with the Roman alphabet. My wife's first name (Gwendolynn) comes from the Welsh. I looked up variants, and some of them don't have anything we would recognize as a vowel. Lots of Gs and Ws.

W is a vowel in Welsh. “Double U.”
So is “Y” - that’s also true in English, of course (sometimes).
