Republicans on Capitol Hill quickly lined up behind President Trump after he announced that the U.S. conducted a strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities, a strong show of support for the White House with few detractors inside the GOP

Not easy standing up against the War Machine, Neocon media and a sitting president of your party

So I applaud those patriots like Massie, Davidson and Greene

Rand is yet to give his verdict. He's posted an article prior to the attack saying that Trump wont be the first president to take unilateral action.

Not easy pitching fantasy against reality.

My guess is that a resolution quickly submitted in support for Trump’s action here would pass very easily.

Iran has been through proxies attacking our forces for a long time, to which we’ve occasionally responded militarily, so, I doubt a repeat of such, perhaps with Iranian operatives directly involved, will be seriously contested. We do NOT need to get ground forces involved in Iran. Simply get the Israelis the munitions needed to take out Iran’s refineries and refined products import terminals. (As absurd as it might seem, at times Iran is actually an importer of refined products!) No refined products, and they are totally screwed. The country would grind to a halt.

Sadly, you are correct.

Debate and vote

So, let me see, Obama bombed more countries than any other president since WWII and not one democrat called it “unconstitutional”. Trump eliminates the nuclear ability of a known terrorist nation and there are members of his own party calling it unconstitutional before the debris has even settled. For 15 years he’s been saying that Iran cannot have a nuke and every pubbie voted for him twice probably three times. And, now he’s followed through with that promise and they’re making him out to be a war monger like Graham. Give to me a break, I don’t want war but a nuclear Iran was a prescription for world wide disaster.

We spoke out about Obama’s wars and adventures

Massie in particular over the years if you want to double check

We have been entirely consistent

Social security, medicare, SNAP, farm subsidies, too big to fail bailouts, anchor babies and free school lunches are not constitutional either. And that is just a start.

At least Trump has the War Powers Act and the Joint Resolution Public Law 197-40 on terrorism passed by Congress.

I agree but it’s up to you and the voters to change the composition of the Congress via elections or influence it (not ignore it ! )

No we spoke out against Obama and we spoke out against Trump doing it now. Thus, we have been consistent.

AS a counterpoint, **IF** Congress cared, they would have already employed their beloved War Powers Act to empower the President, the CINC, to use military force against Iran *IF* and when it was prudent.

Plus in a world of proxy wars and asymmetric fights, formal declarations of war are out of date, an anachronism looking back to when nations fought nations after much political posturing and chest puffing by politicians who never put their blood at risk.

Get over it.

Did the President do the right thing? YES
Were any American lives lost? NO
Could Iran and its proxies CONTINUE to assualt US interests and people? Of course, it’s what they have been doing since 1979.

Congress needs to lead or get over itself. This after-the-fact puffery is USELESS.

One last complaint: learn grammar. MTG posted “Me and my district support President Trump and his MAGA agenda...”

NO, rather it should have been “I and my district...” Ya shouldn’t try to be sanctimonious and self-righteous on a topic and screw up the public statement. That’s what your staff should help you get right.

Yes, hypocrisy at its finest. Nobody, nobody, wanted to make the tough choices. The time had come. Negotiations failed. Trump used up every option to get the Iranians to stop. Even Putin knew what Iran was up to. Trump didn’t bomb cities. He bombed underground nuclear sites that had already been bombed.

I didn’t want it to come to this, and I doubt anyone else here wanted Trump to bomb. Everybody knew it had to be done, every POTUS since Jimmy Carter. Yet nobody would do it. Everybody here is now expecting Iranian terror attacks. They declared war on the US along time ago, so they won’t bother doing it now.

RandFan: "Not easy standing up against the War Machine, Neocon media and a sitting president of your party"

mistfree: "So, let me see, Obama bombed more countries than any other president since WWII and not one democrat called it “unconstitutional”."

Now comes the time, finally, when we can separate out the true Trump Republican MAGA supporters from the faux-MAGA, anti-"Neocon", America-Laster, pro-Russian neo-Isolationists.

This will be fun to watch.

If the GOPe had any consciousness they would have gotten together and smacked Iran 40 years ago. Instead, being half the uniparty they have brought this country to its knees. Perhaps that finally slapping Iran will send President Trump’s approval rating to an unheard of 60%.

I do not think, this is any was escalation.
Iran has been in war with us for 46 years.
Remember the Embassy staff held hostages during Carter era?
We finally repaid that humiliation.

If you read what I wrote, I said that the democrats didn’t call Obamas bombing unconstitutional. IMHO the republicans should at least wait a minute before condemning their president. I never said anything about Massey’s consistency or even his positions. I was making a comparison.

The only people who were ignored were the Democrats. They demonstrated they are traitors, so screw them. Trump was not required to notify Congress before he ordered the attack.

So the bombing was legal by the laws of our land.

I consider it a dangerous expansion of war powers you might regret it one day when a Democrat is in charge
