Dr. Demento is a national treasure. He introduced me to The Congress of Wonders, Fred Blassie’s Pencil Neck Geek, They’re Coming to Take Me Away, and countless other tunes. Dr Demento didn’t make me popular but he made better than everyone who peaked in High School. God bless him.
The Dr. Gets credit for “Weird AL”
He kept “Junk Food Junkie” alive.
He also was a platform for “Big Daddy”, who performsa ‘80s songs ‘50s style.
I didn’t know he was still around.
Haven’t heard him since the days of 94.7 KMET (“The Might Met”) in So. Cal in the ‘70s. Always entertaining.
