Listening to the Dr Demento show on Sunday nights on WYSP in Philadelphia was a great introduction to being underground. Or subversive.
Dr. Demento is a national treasure. He introduced me to The Congress of Wonders, Fred Blassie’s Pencil Neck Geek, They’re Coming to Take Me Away, and countless other tunes. Dr Demento didn’t make me popular but he made better than everyone who peaked in High School. God bless him.

He kept “Junk Food Junkie” alive.
He also was a platform for “Big Daddy”, who performsa ‘80s songs ‘50s style.

I didn’t know he was still around.

Haven’t heard him since the days of 94.7 KMET (“The Might Met”) in So. Cal in the ‘70s. Always entertaining.

Agreed, but I was a Harvey, in the morning fan on WIOQ. FOXX & Leonard, on WMMR as well. Harvey took on too much with Nickelodean projects for television, trying to do both. He's a cabinet maker today and remodels kitchens.
My Talk Radio favorite was Irv Homer.

I thought he had been retired since the first Reagan Administration. Back when there was a rich variety of Spoken Radio shows available on terrestrial stations.
Back when Radio Shack and Blockbusters were riding high in the business world.

Me too. I feel your pain.
The Final Jeopardy question: Who was the Wicked Witch of the West?
The correct answer: Margaret Hamilton.
I wrote: Hillary Clinton.
To this day I think I was robbed.

A grit eating scum sucking pencil neck geek!
Something tells me the DU people found Dr Demento to be childish and immature, and still do. They also eat quiche.
