Putin hopes Israel's threats on Khamenei stay 'rhetoric'

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Friday that he hopes Israel's threats about killing Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remain "rhetoric."

Putin also stressed that Russia has "always supported" ensuring the safety and security of any country but without damaging that of another country.

Earlier, Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called Israel's comments on potentially targeting Khamenei "completely unacceptable."
