I recently saw a short YouTube video of a white woman talking about why Martin Luther King was right. Character matters. Color of your skin does not. We need a color-blind society. The people who obsess over racism are the racists. Just treat people based on their individual merits and don’t judge people by their group.

I saw the video, and I thought: “This makes sense.”

100% of the comments were basically — “I guess we know who this stupid bitch voted for!” and “What a racist! She doesn’t even see how privileged she is!” and “Only a racist believes in a color-blind society!” and “If you see me only as an individual and not a member of my group then you refuse to see me for who I am!”

Seems hopeless sometimes.

Yeah the color blind Theory only works if people share the same values which they don’t so we’ll never have it

In all my years in business, it was character that people were judged on. But people whose character is judged to be poor are quick to blame anything else, including the color of their skin.

And an unwillingness to take responsibility for your actions—and blame something or someone else—is one of the greatest character flaws.

Ergo, screaming racism is a character flaw.

Indeed. From the tone of those comments, you’d think this was still the 19th century.
