Officials aren’t being bought. This is out in the open, on the FEC website, so it’s not like they could be blackmailed. Basically, donors support pols they like. The Adelsons who own Las Vegas Sands have known Trump for 40+ years since his casino days. They donated $400m to his campaign and GOP causes during his first term. Trump is a longtime friend of Israel, donated tens of thousands to Israeli causes in the 80s, over $100K today.

Massie is angry because Jews might support a pro-Israel primary opponent over him. The reality is that just as he hates Israel for free without the need for Nazi, Arab or Muslim contributions, other people like Israel for free. Massie can’t get over his Jew hatred. His take is that any right-thinking person ought to want Jews dead, so any views to the contrary must be the result of bribery.

What you describe there is exactly what’s wrong with U.S. campaign finance laws. Every House and Senate election has effectively become nationalized, to the point where Washington is now filled with members of Congress who are beholden to Beltway/globalist interests at the expense of their local constituents.
