Israel says one of its main goals is to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities - including the Fordow nuclear site, which is buried inside a mountain.
There's one weapon that could achieve this - and only the US is known to have it.
As BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner wrote earlier, this is the 30,000lb question. Because that, (13,600kg), is the tonnage of the weapon that would be needed to reach some of Iran’s most secretive and valuable nuclear apparatus, buried 90m (295ft) deep under a mountain.
The weapon, to give it its full name, is the GBU-57 MOP, standing for Massive Ordnance Penetrator and it can hit targets as deep as 61m underground, or deeper with repeated strikes.

If Israel has total control over Iranian air space I don’t see why an airliner, like a 777, can not be converted into a bomber to deliver a huge bomb...they can carry a cargo of 100 plus tons.
Is there plenty of extra room in the cockpit of a B-52 for extra observers and US security officers to shadow Israeli pilots flying the “loaned” airplane?

So, 61 meters is about 200 feet. What it says the bomb is capable of. If the facilities are 295 feet deep, that still leaves a good bit of cover? More than one bomb do it?

The Israelis will generally yank out some of our stuff on their purchased aircraft and put in their stuff that works better.

I think that Israel has other ideas.
If the IDF dropped a bunker buster, or even a thousand smaller
bombs on the underground Iranian nuke facilities at Fordow,
they will never know if any part of the Iranian enrichment
program survived in the caves of that mountain facility. The
only way for them to truly know is to send in their Special
Ops people and confirm it for themselves; measure every con-
tainment vessel, and detain every nuclear scientist and tech-
nician.
Why not put wings and a tail on the bomb and tow it to the target?
