Let's take a little detour from January 6 and gas prices and remember a couple of people who turn 79 this weekend.
First, we remember Newt Gingrich, who came out of Georgia to lead the 1994 GOP revolution. He has become one of the real statesmen of our time. I no longer think of Newt as a politician, but rather as one who has his eye on the big picture.

The only other weird coincidental birthdays are Abe Lincoln and Charles Darwin born on the same day in 1809.
Have fun just a humorous break from the news.
Article from 2022?
Soory got the date of the article wrong, the proper date is 6/18/22.
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! (Or is it a monkey's descendant? LOL)
I was in Newt’s old GA 6th CD, voted for him several times, was happy to do so.
Then one night I went to bed, and woke up in the GA 4th CD, represented by none other than Cynthia McKinney, who Boortz used to call the cutest little Commie! That district is now represented by Hank “Guam Tipping” Johnson!
Yikes.
I was later put back in the 6th, but it has been trending Dem for a long time for a variety of reasons. And I’ve moved off to a much more conservative CD.
The Contract with America and the Copacabana.
My late wife and I saw Manilow in concert I guess nine years ago if he’s turning 79. He joked about hitting a milestone.
“I have a big birthday coming up. I’m gonna be 35. Twice.”
Does G-D have a sense of humor? He created us, didn’t he?🤔🙄

Don’t go starting any blasphemous rumors.
“”Then one night I went to bed, and woke up in the GA 4th CD, represented by none other than Cynthia McKinney, who Boortz used to call the cutest little Commie! That district is now represented by Hank “Guam Tipping” Johnson!””
Ain’t that a kick in the pants? We can’t win. I was set to vote for Rich McCormick in one of our recent elections only to find out there was redistricting and he was no longer a choice for us. I can’t keep District 6 and 7 straight but I guess neither can the “powers that be” that do all the messing around with the districts.
I do think he might be setting himself up for a run at Governor or Congress. He’s been on TV a lot this year. Saw he was AT the Congressional Baseball game last week (or week before) but he wasn’t playing - he was standing near the dugout..Joni Ernst was put in at the end as a pinch runner.
The dems should try that with Linda Sanchez - LOL She needs to stay away from the cameras when she walks out on the field. The dems can’t play baseball any better than they can govern!!!
Love Barry Manilow - have several of his CD’s that I play while I’m at the computer...What a singer and writer....
I’m sorry you lost your wife and happy you had the experience of enjoying Barry Manilow’s talent with her.
I would love to have seen him in Vegas - lots of chances when we lived in OC, but never made it there..except when we got married there 53 years ago today. All we saw then were sparring matches at Caesar’s Palace - before we got married and as soon as the ceremony was over back to Caesar’s Palace! Priorities, you know. Ali had a fight coming up with one of the Quarry brothers that weekend. Saw and HEARD Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson in the room where the boxing ring was set up.
My husband passed away 4 years ago - 15 years after we said goodbye to CA and hello to GA.
I was working 2nd shift at the prettiest
Power plant the nite newt to the House w the Contract W America.
Don’t remember the number of Blue districts that got flipped.
Not much of a coincidence.
There are only 365(6) possible birthdays in a given year, so assuming approximately one hundred million babies were born that year, that means everyone shares a birthday with about 275,000 other people.
I don’t know how many celebrities there are compared to non-celebrities, but let’s say it’s 1 per 100,000 - that would mean there’s a 75% chance that any given celebrity was born on the same day as some other celebrity.
Sorry to hear about your husband. My wife will have been gone 4 years in September. I miss her every day.
It stopped on the Barry Manilow Live album and he mock-complained "I had several top ten hits on that album and all anyone wants to hear is that damn commercial medley."
At which point he played the commercial medley.
Another time, he was telling the audience that he was lying in bed one night around 3 AM "when I woke up with a song in my head, so I went out and croaked it into the tape recorder and it came out sounding something like this."
It’s possible what you saw him do with the two remotes could be found online. I’ll look. Had to be fascinating to watch him!!
I was looking for one video where he has someone from the audience come up on stage to sing “Can’t Smile Without You” with him but there are several and I can’t find the one that was the best...You’ve no doubt seen some of them. He is quite a showman and a joy to listen to.
I’m not familiar with “One Voice”...but will check it out. He could write music even if he was asleep!!!
Thank you.
Thank you and I certainly understand. There’s that void when you want to relate something to them and they’re not there..You’re told to take each day one at a time and I think that’s the best advice..AND to others - MAKE EACH DAY COUNT!
At one point in “One Voice” there are 40 voices singing — and they’re all Barry.
