J.J. Spaun has powered through the tough course conditions, terrible weather and heat of competition to win the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club on Sunday.
Spaun, who turned pro in 2012 and has just one PGA Tour win under his belt, has captured his first major of his career at a course that consumed some of the game's biggest stars.
He did so in dramatic fashion, too, as Spaun closed the door with a birdie at the 18th, a long, winding putt from 64 feet to secure the victory. ---SNIP--- Sunday’s start wasn’t at all what he had in mind.Spaun had five bogeys in his first six holes,

I was pulling for Adam Scott.
That’s cow pasture golfing at its best!
They all imploded after the rains came, on the final holes.
You hit it in the rough anywhere, you lose!
He was only one under par at the end, incredible exclamation putt to win.
So was I, but JJ was a worthy winner, especially after such a horrible front 9.
A cow pasture golf course is one that lacks grass - like cows have eaten there. An “open course” is one that has narrow fairways a d deep rough.
The course designer was going for an inland “links” type course. All the trees were ripped a few years back with lethal rough and deep bunkers added.

It was set up for the locals not the US Open, yesterday I would not have made 200.
Hats off to JJ Spaun, not my pick, but he is a grinder {and an American}.
