Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a message to U.S. immigration forces in Los Angeles, asking for grace for fans at the Mexico vs. Dominican Republic Gold Cup soccer game at SoFi Stadium Saturday.
"We don't believe that at any soccer match there will be any [immigration] action ... we call for none to be taken by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement," Sheinbaum said in a Friday press conference.
"Mexico will always promote peace," she added.
A now-deleted post to social media post by U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated a promise to be "suited and booted" at the first round of Club World Cup soccer matches this week.
In response to its social media post, the CBP said it regularly provides security at big sporting events.
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the FIFA Club World Cup 25 is safe for everyone involved, as we do with every major sporting event, including the Super Bowl. Our mission remains unchanged," it told The Associated Press on Thursday.
Downtown Los Angeles remains under a curfew.
Los Angeles police have made nearly 400 arrests and detentions since Saturday, the vast majority of which were for failing to disperse, according to the police department. A handful of more serious charges have included assault against police officers, possession of a Molotov cocktail and possession of a gun.

If the Mexican president wants no U.S. Immigration action at the soccer games against the “fans” then she should guarantee that there will be no “actions” on the part of the “fans”. That is the best way to insure no violence.
Should we maybe “detain” Soros & son in jail until the games are over? That at least might slow things down. This man & anyone influenced by him should have been permanently banned from the U.S. a long time ago.
Was she telling Mexicans not to boo the US soccer team and disrupt the US national anthem several years ago?
Well, the Queen of Mexico needs to keep her “illegal immigration” forces at home. Stop the invasion of the United States. Mexico’s invasion of America is a mini-spin off of the Russki invasion of the Ukraine.

TARGET RICH ENVIRONMENT
Years ago, as reported here on FR, there was a soccer game in LA between Mexico and the US. The crowd was overwhelmingly in favor of Mexico and treated the US team very rudely. At that point, even years ago, it felt like the “La Reconquista” had already been accomplished. It’s only gotten worse since then.
There should be no place for criminals to hide - and illegals are criminals b/c they broke the law when they entered the country unlawfully.
Ms. Scheinbaum does not want to lose the huge amount of money from remittances sent to Mexico.
She’s going to be in a for a big surprise when the BBB passes and remittances are taxed. Should have happened decades ago.
