It rained sharks in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, last month after a small hammerhead shark fell from the sky and interrupted a local disc golf game.
The unexpected disc golf hazard was actually a bird’s lost lunch.
Teeing off on 11 at Splinter [Disc City Golf Course] and saw an osprey carrying something over us,” Marlowe wrote. “Two crows chased it into a tree where it dropped its prey.”
In the photos, the shark appeared to be a little more than a foot long.
While hammer throws may have been in the forecast for the golf outing, a hammerhead certainly wasn’t.

It was enough to make him hurl.
Funny...I give your reply an A++
Greta would say it is because of Climate Change...
ha ha
“disc golfers” deserve to have sharks dropped on their heads. The only thing worse is those kick ball golfers.
Name him, ping him...
My wife watches the eagle cams every year during hatching season.
Good chance that eagle was heading to the nest with that bass.
When my wife started watching the eagles I warned her of 2 things...data shows that only around 60% of hatchlings survive.
And that the parents are totally indiscriminate with what they catch, kill and bring to the nest for the babies....and that can include domestic animals.
I’m stealing that! 😁
No frickin’lasers! 🤷
Jeez, sharks these days. :-(
I live on a fairly large lake in Central Florida and there are numerous ospreys and bald eagles that have nests near the lake. This eagle was flying fairly low and I was in my back yard near the lake, but with an oak tree between me and the lake. The eagle flew over the tree and there I was. I probably startled it and it dropped the bass bomb on me.
Pass it around!! Dont Bogart that good stuff!! :P
You're welcome for the ear worm.
😆
Thank You- I’ll take it :)
Got my beautiful American flag proudly flying today - a neighbor just put up a massive flag pole in his hard with a very large American flag on top - no HOA here, I’m sure it would be illegal.
Idiots behind me fly an upside down American flag - which they finally took down and are now flying the gay flag.
Go try it in the Catskills.
Hahahahaha you are on a roll, FRiend!
My wife and I stayed at a cottage on the ocean up north of Boothbay Harbor in Maine, and we had skies filled with osprey and a tree 50 feet to our left where an adult eagle pair would perch there multiple times a day and call out to their young fledglings who had only recently taken to the air.
The eagles were very exciting to see that close up, so often, but the ospreys were more interesting to watch.
They were very successful fishers. It seemed to me they came up empty-handed far less often than they came up with a wriggling silver ribbon in its talons.
Then, in an oddly humorous (to me) way, they would reposition the fish to a fore-and-aft configuration, that gave me an impression of World War II Navy Torpedo Bombers flying away with their catch as if they were torpedo bombers looking for the Japanese Fleet. v Even more ludicrous to me, was what occurred to me the first time I saw them fly away with a fish like that...I wondered if that still living fish, facing forwards towards a nest where they would be fed to young ospreys, but thinking in wonder:
"Hey! So THIS is what the other half of the world looks like from up here!"
