Buyers are aware that luxury RE brokers in NYC get paid an exhorbitant rate by the buyers, so they look to squeeze what they can out of it.
If you don’t like a job that makes you an on call servant of other people, for personal services beyond the essential work of the job, then take a different job. On the other hand a lot of your work may come to you by personal recommendations from prior clients, who may not be making that recommendation if you had not gone far beyond the essential work required. Face it, its a morally lousy industry, so either deal with it or get out.

NYC's Upper East Side was Manhattan's only Republican district in the 1970s.
It was known as the Silk Stocking District. Its people were "Rockefeller Republicans" -- Republicans in the mold of John Lindsay and Jacob Javits.

There was a guy who wrote books about various economic sectors in the 1970s. One book was about the housing industry. He wrote that one real estate agent said that the way some clients acted would shock their employers.
My uncle worked at a top-end Palm Beach establishment after WW2. Some of the outrageous behavior can run in a family.
Most wealthy people know enough to treat the help well because they know they need lots of help, but some wealthy people don’t.
