Trump Administration to Charge Rioters, Looters Under the Hobbs Act
Breitbart ^ | June 11, 2025 | Elizabeth Weibel

The Trump administration will be charging rioters and looters involved in the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles under the Hobbs Act, as Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed.

Bondi criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), stating that if he wasn’t “going to keep California safe,” the Trump administration would. Bondi continued to point out that Los Angeles had imposed a curfew on Tuesday night, adding that it “helped a bit.”

“We’ve been seeing on the news, all of these drug stores getting robbed, getting looted. The Apple store just got raided, I mean, we’re all watching this live on the news. And, this isn’t just —looting to me, you think people just run in, take something, leave, and nothing happens,” Bondi explained. “We’re using the Hobbs Act, we are charging robbery to protect Californians under this. If you loot [a] store, we are going to charge you with robbery under the Hobbs Act, and you’re looking at maximum 20 years in prison.”

Per the Department of Justice (DOJ) website, the Hobbs Act “prohibits actual or attempted robbery to extortion affecting interstate or foreign commerce ‘in any way or degree.'”

That’d make any theft subject to federal jurisdiction. Not sure that’ll fly for the typical street hood.

I wonder, though, if it might actually work against the politicians allowing the rioting and looting to happen. By allowing it, the aggregated loss noticeably impacts insurance et.al across the country.

Many of the looters are under 18 so they will be handled with kid gloves and receive almost no jail time if any. I want to see an iron fist of punishment come down on all of them including the youngsters. It’s the only thing that they’ll understand and the American people are sick and tired of all of this. Enough is enough.

The extortion part is interesting, although I’m sure some judges would say they are interpreting it rather loosely, grasping a bit too much.

Are the looters attempting to coerce the government through their actions?

attempting to coerce

Some are and others are taking advantage of a chaotic situation.

For those that are, terrorism charges apply in my opinion.

And those funding them should be charged the same, or with RICO.

America’s major cities produce a large part of our GDP. So there is a huge national security interest in keeping them functioning. New York and LA are responsible for 10% of our GDP.

I like Blonde

Clint did a great job. My favorite movie in tje series was The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Some may like Tuco, but Blonde was better.

That seems like a bit of a stretch. I’m sure there’s many other federal statutes that apply in addition to domestic terrorism.

“Double indemnity” (it isn’t really) was and is no problem in murder cases. If the feds want to, they can go after someone for deprivation of civil rights. If someone loots a business in lawless CA, it will come out of my pocket to some degree in my relatively law abiding state.

Most of them are just thieves who see an opportunity.

“That’d make any theft subject to federal jurisdiction.”

IF Judge Twyla Schrumpf in Schenectady NY says it’s okay.

I know an inmate Eddie Cox that was using stolen FBI and marshal equipment to rob drug houses in Kansas City KS. and mo. and he was putting the Jamaican drug gangs out of business, the states refused to go after him so the feds charged him and got 2 life sentences for interfering with interstate commerce because the houses were being supplied gas from Texas and electricity from Arkansas

Apple store in LA must be having a 100% Store Liquidation Sale...

Now, RIOTERS, did you know Apple hates Trump?
