My niece lives in Wesley Chapel. There’s a pond behind her house, and yes, she’s had alligators on her front walkway. I’ll send this to her. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a neighbor of hers.
Turns out that my niece lives a few blocks away from the other family. There are 3 ponds in between their houses.
We saw a gator, about five foot, in a local park pond over the weekend. The pond is a natural draw for kids so I called the Florida Nuisance Gator hotline. Like an y bureaucracy, it’s located in Tallahassee. The woman who answered after a few minutes of ringing said they had to contact the ‘local’ Fish & Wildlife Commission staff and they would send someone out to look for the gator probably on Monday.
We went back to the pond several times over the weekend but didn’t see the gator again.
We have noticed that the turtle population of that pond had decreased dramatically over the last few months. There used to be hundreds of them of all sizes and different types. They would all swim over to the bridge over the pond like chickens because people feed them bread and stuff. Now there are just a handful left. The gator probably ate them.................
