Why don’t they also tell the marines to not even bother bringing their weapons with them? All weapons should be loaded with the safety on. They can keep the chamber empty as a show of good will.

"No rounds in the chamber."
Okay fine, we assume there are plenty in the mag. Right?
Otherwise, that gun is just a big metal stick. WTF.

I was stationed at 29 Palms. I was always happy to leave it.

"The National Guardsmen on active duty in Los Angeles are carrying weapons but don't have rounds in the chamber, and they aren't using rubber bullets or pepper spray, according to a U.S. official."
It's difficult to discern some uniforms from another with all the video and stills, but someone shot an female Aussie reporter in the ankle or calf. Having seen the uniformed shooter highlighted in one particular video, it looks like he was aiming directly at her legs.
What the hell is going on in that city? They have their own police force including SWAT, now some 2000 National Guard and now the President has sent 700 Marines which I don't think are needed. Yet, today has been fairly quite.
What ever happened to water cannons? They used to be effective for crowd/riot control.

If you look at the University of Mississippi integration crisis in 1962, you have notable parallels to Los Angeles today: local and state officials opposed to the enforcement of Federal law, armed mobs under the sway of an ideology based on ethnic supremacy, and overwhelmed Federal LEOs. President Kennedy not only Federalized the Mississippi National Guard but sent in over 30,000 regular Army troops, citing the Insurrection Act of 1806. One difference is that the alliance of Communist Antifa militants and the Mexican drug cartels is better organized and better funded than the segregationists of 1962. Additionally, the riots were focused on a single campus. In contrast, Los Angeles is a huge metro area with few physical barriers like the rivers that separate New York's five boroughs. Antifa is well trained in hit and run tactics. They developed these tactics during the George Floyd riots of 2020. Mayor Bass bragged of a communications network that her fellow Communists operate to inform each other of police and military moves. Unlike the Rodney King riots in 1992, gang bangers and terrorists can move more quickly than the police and military.
I hope Trump and Hegseth are not fooling themselves into believing that 2,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines can suppress the Communist and gangster alliance thar has effectively taken over Los Angeles. An overwhelming show of force must occur, as Kennedy did against the segregationists in 1962. Additionally, a massive military presence will be a deterrent to incidents like Kent State, when the Ohio National Guardsmen were being surrounded by Communist led students and thus opened fire, killing four.

I would like to see some mostly peaceful drone strikes to disperse the rioters.

“The National Guardsmen on active duty in Los Angeles are carrying weapons but don’t have rounds in the chamber, and they aren’t using rubber bullets or pepper spray, according to a U.S. official.”
So their job is to provide more targets for the rioters.
It is a joke.
