About 40 miles southeast of me
Skydiver plane
...the hard way.
A friend was excited to go sky divng for the first time, but one they were airborne he was overcome with fear.
After all the other skydivers left the plane, the instructor, with a baton in his hand, said “If you don’t jump I’ll jam this where the sun doesn’t shine!”
I asked him if he jumped.
His reply, “A little at first.”
When I went they were very clear. I could chicken out but if I did after the door closed there were no refunds.
I chickened out so bad I jumped twice.
They tell that one differently in Jump School. At least they did 50 years ago. Might have changed with all the DEI of the last 4 years.
Smart.
What I meant was I didn’t chicken out. I jumped and went back a few months later and did it again.
I've seen grown men cry out for their mama's.
Aviation Ping!.....................
Skydiving is a true thrill, and teaches you much about yourself.
Back in the 60s, as a young Airman, I took up the sport. I only got a handful of jumps in when my Squadron Commander saw my parachute rig in my room during an inspection, and gave me a direct order to stop it.
I could have argued that he didn't have the authority for the order, but summoned up what wisdom 20 yr old might have and obeyed the command.
Haven't jumped since, however I have done indoor skydiving.
Jumping from an aircraft is actually less difficult.
My B-52 Navigator told me that he has a “fear of flying but his love of money overcomes the fear!”. RIP Capt. Bill O’Neil!
