Business owners have mixed views about whether or not the police should have conducted a high-speed pursuit of the thieves. I wonder if they'd think differently if it was their business that was robbed.
Definitely a FAFO award contender.

I can’t believe kids would give up their lives for a few things from Target.

Good kids don’t steal and run from the cops.

Very sad.
I think we have a culture now which increasingly thinks it’s OK to steal from businesses, and also thinks it’s OK to flee from cops and/or resist arrest (George Floyd is a hero).
If a tragedy like this results in new guidelines for cops — “don’t chase people”, then this bad cultural trend increases and society suffers and businesses suffer and prices have to increase because paying for goods starts to look optional.

The answer is don't thieve.

As WFB said, when you subsidize something you just get more of it like illegitimacy and cheese.

“Gabriel, Nasir and Singiyah.”
Sounds like Nasir and Singiyah are taking lessons from the Amish. Gabriel might be Amish himself.

The suspected vehicle fled, but the driver lost control and crashed minutes later on the 300 block of Ridge Pike. So it's the polices' fault that these three new drivers fled at a high speed and crashed?
Didn't they know that they were breaking the underage drivers law, and didn't have an adult with them?

This occurred in a neighboring school district. It’s a fairly rural district with a good reputation, I know a number of people there.
As a parent of a 17 year old myself, it’s a very sad situation. Kids do foolish things in the moment borne of bad judgment, and while this is 100% their own fault it’s nonetheless a terrible tragedy.

I’m a retired urban high school teacher. And yeah, you’re right. Quite often I’d overhear students talking about that. Then I’d try to change their minds. I don’t think I made much difference.
Their defense was always the same: The stores are greedy. They charge too much. So they deserve to get boosted.
(Boost is their slang term for steal. As in, I boosted a shirt from Walmart yesterday.)
Sigh…
