Trump slams Paul for voting ‘NO on everything,’ lacking ‘constructive ideas’

President Trump slammed conservative Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday for pledging to vote against his “big, beautiful bill”, accusing the Kentucky lawmaker of voting “NO on everything” and “never” having “practical or constructive ideas.”

Paul said he could vote for the 1,116-page budget reconciliation bill that passed out of the House last month if it didn’t include language to raise the federal debt ceiling by $4 trillion.

Paul’s comments sparked Trump to fire back on social media, accusing Paul of having “crazy” ideas.

“Rand votes NO on everything, but never has any practical or constructive ideas. His ideas are actually crazy (losers!). The people of Kentucky can’t stand him. This is a BIG GROWTH BILL!” Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform.

In a separate post, Trump declared Paul has “very little understanding” of the bill and doesn’t grasp “the tremendous GROWTH” it would unleash from the economy.

“Rand Paul has very little understanding of the BBB, especially the tremendous GROWTH that is coming. He loves voting ‘NO’ on everything, the thinks it’s good politics but it’s not,” Trump wrote.

“The BBB is a big WINNER!!” he wrote.

What are we truly going to lose?

The Trump tax cuts expire without congressional action. I also believe that the 100% SALT deductions come back.

That's because rand paul has shown he's never authored or cosponsored any major piece of legislation....

yet rand paul thinks that opposing Trump will lead him to gain support from republicans and the left in his 2028 presidential aspirations because he stands up to Trump....

All he's going to do is cause republicans to lose support and the house and senate at the midterms...

and let the left impeach Trump again....

Rand should stick to what he knows-medical issues, like going after Fauci. He is a doctor by trade, not a businessman. the raise in the debt ceiling is temporary, until the tariffs and the cuts in fraud in the government come through. Then the country will be booming. Takes money to make money.

So we are going to let them extort us into tons of Republican Pork and bad law just to save those?

If they want to save those then they need to be held to the fire and eliminate the BS... But I can tell you right now, the Republicans do not care at all if the Tax cuts expire. They are just as greedy as the Democrats about taxes. They only holler when it can be blamed on the Dems and they don’t have to own it. They LOVE more money, and love to spend it even more...

Which is why this bill is a problem. They have a spending addiction and cannot suppress it... Rand is trying to point out this disease and addiction...

Perhaps. No great options. If you let them expire, both good and bad Republicans go down in 2026, and get replaced with Democrats. The Deep State in both parties will ride out Trump's term with not much to show for it.

The president is sailing into a headwind, and progress is rarely straight in such situations.

Rand knows about the Byrd Rule. So he knows how these things are supposed to proceed. I have to think he’s just making noise for political PR. The House is supposed to come out today with the bill to codify the DOGE recommendations & possibly other cuts.

We are just stupid to fall for the “to save a dollar we have to spend ninety nine cents!”

It is misrepresentation, impractical, and absolutely unproductive.

The tax credit issue is nothing in comparison to what this is going to actually cost the taxpayers in the long run.

I would rather pay a little more in taxes now than get slammed with a huge bill that will require raising taxes later anyhow... PLUS a whole bunch of new laws we don’t need.

Pay now, or pay later... We are still going to have to pay for this either way.

Unless it is a democrat bill despised by Americans ... then its supporters vote en bloc.
Why fret over gaining control of the House, Senate and WH? When we do, GOP March hares like Rand go wandering off shaking their jheri curls back and forth, like democrats.
The bill dies and democrats trumpet at midterms, “You didn’t do anything!” And the electorate agrees.
I like Rand, but it’s time to row. We already have a coxswain who was elected by everybody.

Give Rand a break ... he seems to be the Head Diva in the Republican (OK Diva) party these days. As screwed up as the Democrats are these days at least they sill stick together and get their agendas passed.

“Still a no: Rand Paul says $5T debt increase in ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ a deal-breaker”
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/still-no-rand-paul-5-trillion-debt-increase-big-beautiful-bill-deal-breaker

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

One thing is certain: adding $5 trillion to the national debt is staggering. What’s even more frustrating is that DOGE (or whatever initiative or policy was supposed to reduce the debt by $2 trillion) failed to deliver — it only managed to shave off less than $100 billion. That’s not even close to what was promised.

So the question is: Beyond any Republican of Democrat ideolgies, how can any rational, informed human being support such a massive increase in debt with so little actual reduction or accountability? I just don’t understand the logic or justification behind it. It feels like we’re walking blindly into a financial storm, and no one seems to care.

Just a year ago, everyone here on FR was loudly calling for an end to the relentless debt hikes.
So, where do we stand now? Are we still holding that line — or have we quietly let it go?

Have conservatives really shifted course in less than a year, now embracing the idea that adding trillions to the national debt is somehow acceptable or even good policy?
Because if that’s the case, it’s a stunning reversal — and one that deserves serious reflection.

I like Rand, he’s one of a tiny handful of electeds who seems to usually say what he believes to be true, even if it hurts him politically.
