The “stick to sports” door swings both ways.
While the term rose to significance as a catchphrase for conservative voices who hoped to shout down athletes and media with conflicting beliefs (athletes and media who agreed were and are exempt from being told to shut up), fans who have concerns about the current state of the union are objecting to those athletes who are aligning with the person who’s running the show.

In the case of Mason Rudolph he's not that good. A lower profile is called for when one is fighting for a job. Does this mean Aaron Rogers has 'earned it'? No. He' just has more people listening to him.
There is a big difference between privately attending a rally and kneeling during a football game. I doubt if the author is that stupid.
He’s not stupid. He wants to raise eyebrows-good for business.
All HBM (Has Been Media) articles start from the premise of “Let’s hate Trump”.

NBC hit piece. Just stop watching these underground leftist pukes.
Why would anyone be angry that somebody showed up at a trump rally?
These aren’t your father’s Steelers fans....
You just go and lay your hand
On a Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan
And I think you’re gonna finally
understand
I don’t mind when an athlete or anybody else expresses their political beliefs on their own time. What I mind is when they do so on the job.
Do not kneel while in uniform at the stadium for the game.
Do not bloviate about your politics when you’re on stage and people have paid money and come to hear you sing.
