I did a search on google
Amish electric bikes sugarcreek
and found boatload of articles dating back 6 years ago. Some have suggest they were noy Amish, but Mennonite, who are not as observant in the use of modern technology, but others disputed that and claim they are indeed Amish. Pretty cool to see the same scene with a family on EV bokes and a horse-drawn buggy.
And there it is...the tell.

Some Amish farms in NE Indiana have solar panels. We talked with one of the guys with panels and he said the Bishop approved it so they were taking advantage of it. Definitely a safer method of lighting than anything with fire.
Maybe battery powered electricity is OK?

My thinking was along the lines that they use batteries that charge through gravity and pedaling and not from a power line. It would be interesting to speak to one who understands. I plan to do that the next time I’m in Holmes County Ohio
Oh sure I knew that about the Mennonites, just the dress is similar lots of them in Indiana where we used to live.
