It's Saharan dust season in the Atlantic, when massive clouds of dust from Africa's Sahara Desert are carried westward by wind, sometimes reaching all the way to the United States.

Not that bad, helps suppress tropical storm development and makes for beautiful sunsets.
If camels start falling out of the sky in Miami, that is a whole different issue. ;)

One wonders how that dust cloud affects the propagation of the Monsoon off the Atlantic and into Africa. It would reflect a lot of heat back into space and thus possibly reduce its strength. Might comprise an interesting seasonal feedback so to speak.
