It's a good article. It's worth taking some time to study the table.

For starters, millions of people get the flu and die every year. That fact is stunning, yet it is part of the background and generally not considered news. For some reason, the number of cases seems to oscillate from around 29M to 40M with the number of deaths staying fairly constant at about 2.9M.

Covid-19 appears, and the flu disappears for that year. The author delves into that unbelievable statistic.

Subsequently, we have both Covid and Flu cases and deaths. Total deaths increase by about .5M per year.

It seems to me that deaths attributable to Covid are only .5M. The press, politicians and health care experts never got excited about 2.9M people dying from the flu every year. They became deeply concerned about an additional .5M deaths. In retrospect, it makes no sense.

Thanks for posting. I read the AT article this morning.

Respectfully, it makes perfect sense. As the AT article points out, there was a financial incentive to identify more cases as covid.

This line of thinking isn’t entirely accurate nor inclusive of a few other facts.

The CDC maintains several “sentinal” testing sites, not ALL clinics nor clinicians testing for influenza are required to report test results.

THROUGHOUT the early Covid19 SCAMdemic, the clnics where I worked continued to see POSITIVE influenza tests, both Flu A as well as B (as a matter of fact, Flu B never really goes away, we saw postive test results every year throughout the summer months as well). What changed was, we were told by management - as advised by the state of Maryland’s health department - to call ALL such results “false positives” and NOT treat those patients for influenza but for COVID instead.

I said the hell with that and continued to code for influenza (or acute Flue-like illness, NOS if their covid rapid antigen test was negative), prescribing the usual array of antivirals which have been proven (relatively) safe and (arguably) effective.

My patients got better quicker.

Pretty soon our coding sections on our computers were changed, we could no longer say the patient had flu.

There was more money in diagnosing Covid19, I believe.

I stopped seeing patients in Dec., of 2021, a year after having Covid myself (antivirals didn’t touch that).

I knew the shots were worthless within 2 months of their roll-out, patients were coming in SICKER than the usual covid patients with positive rapid antigen tests AND confirmatory PCR tests (another bag of worms), all saying “I can’t have Covid, I had the shots and a booster).

I said more than once from 2020-2023...”nobody gets the flu anymore? It doesn’t write, it doesn’t call...”

We knew that at the time. They just classified all flu as COVID=1984.

But tricky numbers to dig through.

Retired med tech in Feb 2021. The first test kits we used for Covid antibodies were not very specific (a lot of cross reactions to other virus) but the ER docs were NOT ordering flu tests (less than 5% of previous seasons). Everyone was getting a Covid test that would be positive for more than Covid. Later DNA testing was probably more specific.

China flu paid better.
Knew that back in 2020. All else followed.

Ah, it was about time this narrative was recycled again - and pretending it is new again...LOL. It never ceases.

Everyone staying at home and not being admitted to buildings if they have a fever or other flu-like symptoms is a good way to avoid a flu outbreak - which was not novel and could not spread like a virus we have zero immunity to and the bulk of the population also got vaccines for it on top of that - but I don’t think we would want to go through that experience every flu season.

We ended up having many more flu cases than normal in spring and summer 2022 after things had been opened up for a time and the viruses got circulating again, though not as severe as winter likely due to Vitamin D levels being higher from sun. More regular colds during that time period as well. But hey, why bother with actual facts and actual history when it gets in the way of a good fake narrative?

None of it is attributable to “Covid”. Instead they forced killer protocols on the hospitals and called every death “Covid”. Family members were even paid off if they went along with a mention of Covid on the death certificate.
