Hi Freepers: I am here seeking prayer request for job search for the third time. The first time was 2008 and the second time was 2019. Both times, down to a wire, I could have stayed at my old jobs but found something at the last minute and moved on.
I really thank the Freepers who prayed for me the last two times.
This time is the same. We are expected a big layoff in the coming months. I have started the job search.
I am praying that God will guide in this difficult times, walking on a razor's edge.
Please say a prayer for me. Thank you!
Especially brutal if you are 68 in a high salary band when budgets are being cut. I'm just going to retire.
Sirius Lee: Thank you! I have been working with ML/AI for 8 years in my work, using python packages, e.g., XGBoost, neural network models for my work. I need some credentials in GCP, AWS and Azure.
Indeed, it’s better to get ready now than getting the pink slip. By then, it’s too late.
Thank you, SaveFerris! I hope all works out for you as well. I ‘ll pray for you too.
God bless you in your job search!
Thank you! I’ve been constantly looking ever since starting my new job in 2019. I usually let recruiters come to me. I get 1-2 offers per year. I need to be more aggressive and not wait for recruiters to come knocking.
Good luck to you too!
Have been there a few times in the past. Keep trusting the Lord. He’s never failed me in that regard, and He won’t fail you, either. Praying now. Tell us how it goes.
McDonald’s is hiring, paying $18 an hour.
I’m fortunate to have a pretty decent job, but I see the writing on the wall. I’m 57 and don’t think I’ll make it to 62 without a few rounds of layoffs.
I’m currently remote and plan to stay that way as I’m in the woods of WV. I won’t work for any company that won’t accommodate that because I’m at least twice, if not 3x as productive that way, having spent 30 years in-house prior - I’ve seen the on-site dysfunction up close. Any company mired in the past, at least for IT staff, isn’t worth the effort to apply to, IMHO.
That said, I’ve applied to on-site jobs just to get interview experience and still don’t get even the courtesy of a rejection.
Father, i ask for Your help and guidance for this and all those brothers and sisters who are in the process of looking for and/or leaving a job to find another. we ask You Lord to preserve our businesses, and our jobs for those are the means by which we can give back to You, Lord, what You have graciously provided to us. Your kingdom must be built here on earth and Your people who have means are a primary way that we help in that Great Commission. we are thankful for the bounty You have given to us in America, and we ask again for provision of our and our brethren’s daily bread and physical needs. in Jesus’ Name, our Great Provider, we ask. Amen.
Holy Father God, we pray for blessings upon uzumaki that he finds the job You have planned for him, in the Name of Jesus, amen. Thank You for Your care and provision for us.
@ ROCKLOBSTER : I like Costco better; they pay more LOL
Thank you for your prayers! I had an interview today. It would not say it went perfectly. I was grilled like in my PhD defense. However, other candidates may have the same problem.
Thank you for the update. Continuing in prayer! :D
Prayers up for all of you. 🙏
“I was grilled like in my PhD defense.”
Your demeanor and how/if you kept your cool during the interview, whether by phone, Zoom, or in person, could make all the difference. 🤞 and 🙏 for a good outcome.
Still praying
🛐🛐🛐🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️
All the best to you in your job search!
At my Harvard PhD “defense”, there was no grilling! My committee ad taken care of that earlier. And, as was customary in our department, only my committee attended my PhD talk, and asked few questions. My PhD talk was short, but my bound thesis was huge!
The big emphasis was on the celebration that followed my “defense”, with lots of people and a huge feast!.
ransomenote: thank you for your continuing in prayer!
