Legislators investigate 65 cent per gallon gas 'tax' hike set to impact CA, AZ, NV

(The Center Square) - California Republicans are launching an investigation into the Low Carbon Fuel Standard update that is expected to increase the cost of gasoline by 65 cents per gallon — impacting not just California, but the parts of Nevada and Arizona that rely on the Golden State for fuel — on July 1. That's the middle of the peak summer driving season.

“CARB and the Governor pushed an expensive gas price hike behind closed doors, ignored public input, and misled Californians about the real cost,” said Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones, R-San Diego. “We believe their real goal is to drive gas prices so high that working families have no choice but to buy electric vehicles, whether they can afford them or not. The public deserves the truth, and we intend to shine a light on this radical agenda.”

“It’d take a consortium of the upper states to accomplish that.”

Did Ca console the other affected States about taxing National energy supply from the Coast across Ca? They are presuming ownership because it passes through their state. Well the Colorado River Pact only covers allotment amounts. As far as I know it does not address any taxes/tolls Az might want to charge just because it passes solely through the Grand Canyon and Az on it’s way across. We could exempt Nev.

I wouldnt tax them. I’d reduce their share by whatever percent tax they impose on the fuel.

Az should impose a tax on every single gallon of water passing through Az to California.

Arizona could justify this by celebrating the ancestral traditions of Native Americans. Lewis & Clark discovered that Native Americans were charging others to use portions of rivers on their lands.

Know what? Even better. Az and Nv should tax the hell out of the electricity rates coming from both Hoover Dam and Davis Dam going to Ca... :)

I can tell you all this.
Remember those fires the last few years?
Well, the boys here are starting, and have refused, going to fight fires in CA.
